Taking your photos and sharing them over the internet has never been easier
using social media. However, it is highly recommended that social media photos
should be set private and are separated from those posted over the internet. In that
way, you need an image host. In the previous lesson, you learned that the IMAGE

2. Blogging Platforms. Websites like WordPress, Tumblr, and Blogger focus on

content and design. It typically looks like a newsletter where you are given
options to change the design to your liking. Though you can manipulate the
design, social media platform’s popularity is still unchallenged. The amount
of customization in blogs is also unchallenged depending on the content
management system implemented by the provider.

A Content Management System (CMS) is a computer application (sometimes

online or browser-based) that allows you to publish, edit, manipulate, organize and
delete web content. CMS is used in blogs, news websites, and shopping.

The Nature and Purpose of Online Platforms and Application

To be able to create a good online presentation, webpage, and content, you

should know the principle and techniques of design using online creation tool,
platform, and application to develop ICT content.

Online platform is a specially developed platform using Internet technology.

Online platforms have revolutionized access to any information. In our daily life we
used Internet in doing such things and in our learning purposes.

1. Presentation or Visualization - Communicates information clearly and

efficiently via statistical graphics, plots and information graphics.

helps you plan your work and keep track of your progress.

d. Sway – is a digital storytelling application for work, school and

home that makes it quick and easy to create and share
polished, interactive reports, presentations, personal stories,
and more.

2. Cloud Computing - The practice of using a network of remote servers hosted

or a personal computer.

Examples:

a. Google Drive -keeps all work in one secure place with online
file storage.

b. Dropbox - keeps your files safe, synced and easy to share.

c. OneDrive -is a Microsoft cloud storage service that lets you

store your personal files in one place, share them with others,
and get to them any device connected to the Internet.
d. pCloud - is your personal cloud space where you can store all
your files and folders.

d. TikTok is a popular social media app that allows users to

create, watch, and share 15-second videos shot on cellphones.

4. Web Page Creation - Encompasses several important elements including

color, layout and overall graphical appearance.

Examples:

a. Wix - a cloud-based web development platform that allows users

to create HTML5 websites and mobile sites using their online
drag and drop tools.

b. Weebly - a web-hosting service featuring a drag and-drop website

builder

c. Tumblr - a micro blogging platform and social networking

website.

d. LinkedIn - is a social networking site designed specifically for the

business community.
