THE ACTION

July 2007 The Official Publication of the Hanover Area Jaycees Volume 66 Issue 07

Matt Boyer
Hello Everyone! It is now officially Summer, though with the heat
812-1490
we’ve been having, I think Spring ended a while ago.
President
Liz Boyer It was beautiful weather for the Car Show. Nice job to Stan and
637-0373 crew with that project. Hopefully everyone was able to hear
Membership VP Kristine Carbaugh through the radio advertisement on 98WYCR
The Peak. That Saturday ended with a JAM at Bill Bateman’s Bis-
Jen Lupp tro. And I didn’t get burnt this year. It was a great day.
359-7253
Financial VP One project this month is the Relay for Life, helping out the Ameri-
can Cancer Society. Karen Sentz will update you further on this.
Katie Rohrbaugh
Hopefully the nice weather keeps up for that weekend, without the
637-1259
Individual VP heat. Though I can’t think of anyone that will slow up due to the
temperature. Great job to everyone that participates in this.
Karen Sentz
757-9101 Another big project for July is the Kid’s Karnival. Held the last full
Community VP weekend of July during Dutch Days, we can use all the help possi-
ble. Kids enjoy it, and it’s fun working with them. Jen Lupp has
Troy Bolin more information on this later in the article.
227-0051
Treasurer August Boards are coming up, and registration is due this month. If
Kelly Myers anyone is interested in attending or has questions, please let me
637-8570 know. This quarter includes the Outstanding Young Pennsylva-
Secretary nian. Karen Sentz will fill you in more on the OYP.

Kathy Main A reminder that a $10 gas card will be given to everyone who
637-0050 brings along a prospective member to the July Membership Meet-
Chairman of the Board ing. We want to grow as a chapter, to train those leaders and suc-
ceed in our Community Service.

Laugh for the month:

The nicest part about living in a small town is that when you don’t know
what you’re doing, someone else always does.

The Relay for Life is almost upon us. It will be held

at the North Hanover YMCA from Noon until Noon
July 13 to the 14. For those who don’t know this is
the event where we show our support to cancer
survivors and remember those who lost the battle to
cancer. We collect money per lap (laps walked or run around the outdoor YMCA
track) or a flat donation from friends and family and bring it that night to donate
to the American Cancer Society. Put on your walking shoes and join in the fun. The
theme this year is “Halloween” so feel free to dress up as your favorite goblin or
other character. Hope to see you out at this great event. Our tent will be the
same location as last year, the far corner towards the new Starbucks. Thanks to
Christine Carbaugh for all her hard work on this very worthwhile project. If you
need to reach Christine with questions please call her at 633-7699.

Tyler Clabaugh has won the 2007 Outstanding Young

Pennsylvanian! Congratulations Tyler on this wonderful
honor!!! Tyler will receive his award the weekend of the
August Board meeting on August 4 at a dinner held in
Harrisburg. Hopefully we can have Tyler to a meeting to
introduce himself and tell us about all his outstanding work for the community.

Although it may seem like it is far away the start of school is only two months away.
I am still looking for chair people for the Pass, Punt and Kick (football skills) and
for the Backpack for Kids projects.

Planning for the annual Halloween Parade will begin this week. We
are still in need of sub-chairs. Thanks to Nick Cracium for
volunteering for the challenge. We will need everyone’s help. If you
have questions for Nick, he can be reached at 637-0923.

Please call or email me with any questions or suggestions. 633-5198 or [email protected].

Delone Catholic High School with a 3.95 GPA. While he was there, he was selected as a member of the National Honor So-
ciety and the OMNI Club, which is a group of students chosen by the faculty based upon their performance in the classroom
and in the community. Tyler was also elected senior class Vice President, which led to his serving on a youth-based commu-
nity board that brought students together from a number of local high schools.
