CCTV System

The document discusses calculating storage requirements for a CCTV system with 16 cameras, determining the appropriate focal length and distance to install a camera given sensor size and scene details, defines focal length, view angle, and optical zoom, and asks about the difference between IP and analog surveillance systems. It provides formulas and examples for calculating storage needs, focal length, and installation distance based on camera and scene specifications. Key camera properties like focal length, view angle, and optical zoom are defined.

1. It is required to calculate the monthly storage disk volume (31 days) for a
system containing 16 cameras if using a resolution Low 10 KB, 30 FPS,
device running 24 hours.

2. We have a scene whose width is 5 meters and it is 50 meters away from

the camera to be installed. Calculate the appropriate focal length for the
camera if the camera's sensor was 1/3 of an inch

3. Let's say for example a camera with a 1/3-inch sensor (h = 6mm wide), if
the focal length f of the used camera is f=119 mm, and the height of the
scene to be photographed is 18.4 m. Calculate the appropriate distance
to install the camera.

D = f * H / h = 119 * 4.18 / 3.6 = 138 m

4. A camera whose lenses have a focal length range from 9.5 mm to 143
mm, what is its OZ value?
The quotient of dividing the larger dimension by the smaller dimension is
approximately equal to 15, and therefore male In the specifications of this
camera, it has an optical zoom of OZ (15X).

5. Define
• Focal length:
It is the distance between the camera lens and the sensor, measured
in millimeters. And it plays an important role in determining the
dimensions of the photographed scenes, and what we mean by
saying that the 8mm lens is not that the diameter of the lens is 8mm,
but that the focal length, which is the distance between the focus of
the lens and the optical sensor, is equal to 8mm
• View angle:
Viewing angle is a term for the amount of angle that the camera
covers, so the higher the value of this angle, the larger the area is
larger, but distant objects are less visible. (Remember that the
shorter the focal length, the greater the angle of view.)
• Optical Zoom, OZ:
In this technique, a mechanical mechanism is used to change the
location of the lens used in the camera, and thus change the focal
length of the lens So that it changes from the smallest dimension to
the largest dimension in steps called x, which is the result of dividing
the largest dimension by the smallest dimension
