TO BE READ BEFORE ANY START--UP OF
SUPERBA EQUIPMENT
THIS MANUAL CONTAINS INFORMATION OF PARA-
MOUNT IMPORTANCE REGARDING SAFETY . ANY
TECHNICAL STAFF BEING BROUGHT TO USE THE
MATERIAL OR HAVING TO ENSURE ITS MAINTE-
NANCE MUST ABSOLUTELY RESPECT THE INS-
TRUCTIONS LISTED IN THESE DIRECTIONS FOR
USE.
The operational safety always comes first. The operators must become acquainted
with the instructions of this manual and must periodically read them again in order to
memorize them. Should these safety instructions not be respected, accidents or
material damage are likely to take place.
These directions for use also provide information on the optimum use of the equipment
and on its necessary steady maintenance. These instructions have to be scrupulously
carried out.
Only the machine use as described in this documentation for the users, including
all the maintenance and adjustment tasks enable to guarantee the operators’
safety.
Any other use, not in accordance with the regular use foreseen by SUPERBA SAS or
adjustment or maintenance task performed without respecting the safety measures or
procedures or intervention sequences described in the directions for use, expose the
staff at very serious lesion risks which could engage the penal responsibility of the user
and his staff.
Are strictly and in particular forbidden the ”fantasy” uses not in accordance with the
foreseen use such as :
S Use the machine without having previously set up on the frame protection guards
with the fastening means foreseen by SUPERBA SAS
S Allowing the access to non authorized staff the normally locked cabinets containing
electrical appliances (risks of electrical shocks)
S Use the machine in locations where can appear, even very rarely, explosive atmo-
spheres whatever their nature (haze, gas, clouds of dust...)
S Treat with the machine fibres, yarns... which can release vapours or hazes likely to
create explosive atmospheres or likely to expose persons at risks harming their
health.
This equipment is not designed to be used under explosive atmospheres whatever
their nature (hazes, gas, clouds of dust).

The SUPERBA equipment can be used in conjunction with other machines or possibly
control material not supplied by SUPERBA. In this case, the buyer is the only one
liable for the choice of this material, its maintenance and its use. He must also
make sure the use of this material does not damage the SUPERBA material.
The inspection and the starting--up of the SUPERBA equipment in connection
with equipment or material not belonging to SUPERBA, does not involve
SUPERBA’s liability as far the foreign material is concerned. The customer is the
only one responsible for the material damage and physical injuries that could result
from it. The customer is also liable for making the foreign material comply with the
safety regulations in force in the concerned country.
When some steam is necessary to the running of the machine (s), the supply network
is at the customer’s charge ; the latter having to:
S See that all the elements of the work equipment designed to the heat energy
transmission, especially the steam or thermal fluid pipes are set up, protected or
insulated in such a way to prevent any risk of burn..
S Compulsorily foresee the technical means designed to allow the separation of
the network steam pipes as well as the precautions to prevent any risk of
condensate return (The separation of the work equipments from their energy supply sources has to be achieved
by putting into place means enabling the operators intervening in the dangerous areas to be assured of this separation).
S Make sure the installation is indeed carried out in accordance with the safety
standards and rules in force in the concerned country.
Only the skilled, instructed and appointed operators are allowed to use, handle
and ensure the maintenance of the SUPERBA machines and equipment.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Keep any persons that are not authorized, nor skilled away from the equip-
ment.
While in operation, the machine (s) must permanently be supervised by at
least one skilled operator.
The equipment has tobe connected by a qualified electrician. An electrical
sketch is attached to the instructions. All the control panels are equipped with
a lock. Only the authorized staff can be in possession of the keys and be able
to open and lock the control panels.
Have the equipment stopped before any intervention requiring the removing of
the fixed protecting devices or other interventions such as heavy maintenance or
repair during which an untimely re--supply in energy could bring about accidents
(refer to the stopping procedure). Should the maintenance staff have to intervene on
the machine parts being under pressure, it is essential to depressurize before any
action.
Make sure not to get too close to the parts in motion and not to touch the electri-
cal connectings.
Never try to operate the machine before all the safety devices are set up.
Localize the locations and familiarize yourself with all the control and safety
switches. Especially locate the emergency stop buttons.
Before any use of the equipment, make sure all the safety devices run smoothly.
Only a skilled maintenance technician is allowed to repair or replace the safety
devices, the accessories and the defective parts.
Do not use this equipment beyond its capacities or beyond the foreseen wor-
king speed. It runs more efficiently and with more safety when used at reasona-
ble power and speed. Use the electrical cables, the pneumatic pipes and the
steam piping only for the applications foreseen to that end.
Keep the working place in a perfectly clean and tidy condition. A cluttered
work place can be the source of accidents.

Protect any electrical cables and pneumatic pipes against the heat, the oil, the
tool circulation, cutting edges...
Wear vocational garments. Do not wear too baggy clothes that might be caught
by the parts in motion. Keep ties, scarfs... away from the work place and
gather long hair under a cap.
The user (buyer) bears all the responsibilities and all the risks subsequent to the use
of parts or material not supplied by SUPERBA or without Superba’s approval.
The use of non authorized parts can involve a malfunction of the equipment, material
damage and originate physical injuries.
STOPPING PROCEDURE:
S Part the machine from all its energy sources. The parting function is performed by
the switches or section insulators in the case of electric energy, by the taps or specialized distri-
bution boxes in the case of water power or pneumatic energy.
S Block in the open position all the separation devices (switches, section insulators,
distribution boxes ... ). This blocking can be carried out by setting up padlocks or letter--keyed
locks onto the separation devices.
S Check downstream from the separation points, the lack of energy, whatever
its form, and especially in the case when the latter might be accumulated.
-- electric energy by capacitors,
-- pneumatic or water energy by accumulator,
-- potential mechanical energy likely to release itself.
To do so, it is advisable to put at the disposal of the concerned staff, the means to enable the
latter to make sure there is no accumulated energy (example : voltmeter ...).

Meaning of the pictograms used in this document
During the installation of the machine at the working place or during its assembling
and its starting up, the customer is not allowed to ask the assembling technician
to proceed to any mechanical or electrical modification. Assembling technician(s)
are not qualified to judge the consequences of the modifications on the security regar-
ding the later use of the equipment delivered by SUPERBA. Any modification could
lead to incidents or accidents or the equipment could not fit anymore the standards set
by the norms and regulations in force.
Should a modification be nevertheless demanded, the request must be send to
SUPERBA, who might give a written agreement.
In the case of a negative answer, and if the customer decides to modify the equip-
ment of origin without having obtained SUPERBA’s written agreement before-
hand, he runs the risk of being held responsible of an incident or an accident.

INDUSTRIAL AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Unless otherwise stipulated, SUPERBA remains the owner of all information, all
concepts (ideas or strategies and methodologies, etc.) all specifications, all docu-
ments (studies, designs, drawings, diagrams, calculation sheets, test reports, etc.),
all objects (models, samples, specimens, etc.), including patents and know--how,
handed over or sent to the Client on a precontractual basis or implemented as part
of the provision of services, in particular design, engineering, research and develop-
ment, technical assistance, etc.
The Client undertakes to treat as confidential all the information and all the com-
mercial and technical documents, as well as all the objects which are entrusted to
them by SUPERBA and refrains from passing them on and/or conveying them in
any way whatsoever to third parties, unless they have previous written permission
to do so from SUPERBA.
The Client may only use the industrial and intellectual property rights belonging to
SUPERBA, (including those which ensue from results of engineering, research
contracts, etc.), after signing a license contract, even if the right of use is granted
free or charge.
SUPPLY OF SOFTWARE
In the event of SUPERBA’s supplies incorporating software in any form whatsoever
coming from industrial and intellectual property belonging to SUPERBA or to a
third party, the Client only enjoys a non--exclusive license to use it which is granted
on a personal basis for said software, without the benefit of sub--license and without
the right of transfer.
This license is reserved for one single user, and shall only be able to be used on one
computer, or, if it is a machine, on one single original machine manufactured and
delivered by SUPERBA, without any duplication of the software, in any form what-
soever.
The license holder is deemed as performing a non--authorised reproduction if they
convey, reproduce, adapt, decompile, correct, update, improve, transform into
machine language or copy the software in any other way, either entirely or partly.
In the event of an unauthorised copy of their copy, the license holder shall be consi-
dered as having infringed the software copyright. Furthermore, the holder underta-
kes to protect the software from any unauthorised access by a third party, and they
shall give their employees, agents and subcontractors all useful instructions for that
purpose, in order to enforce and preserve the intellectual property rights associated
with the software.

SUMMARY
The short--circuit current at the base of the machine is presumed below 15kA (Manu-
facturer data on the circuit breakers used in our panel for a 400VAC power supply).
Otherwise, plan a current restricting device.

II. DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTROL PANEL
The control panel is composed of 6 rotating or push buttons and one emergency stop button.

Arrêt (stop): All motors in the line are stopped, regulations are stopped.
Marche (run): The accessory motors are started. All regulations are running. The belt, laying
and pre--feed motors are ready to be started by pressing the ’Marche’ button.
Maintenance: Stops temperature and pressure regulations. The belt, laying and pre--feed
motors are stopped (cannot be started).
This selector allows to start and stop all motors in the line centrally.

IV. LIGHT COLUMN
A light column with 3 indicators + buzzer, located in the LV3 electric panel provides a remote
diagnostic of the line’s condition.
Fixed red lamp = emergency stop or head set safety cover open.
Blinking red lamp = fault stopping the belt (fault D, see §6 KDEF section).
Fixed orange lamp = faults programmed to activate the lamp (settings E, see §6 KDEF section).
Fast blinking orange lamp = yarn staying time in the HEPs timeout.
Slow blinking orange lamp = yarn broken.
Fixed green lamp = laying + belt on.
Fast blinking lamp = reverse belt.
Slow blinking lamp = belt on only.
Buzzer = faults programmed to activate the buzzer (K settings, see §6 KDEF section).

Recipe name display
A. Home page:
The home page is the one displayed by default when starting the machine. This page shows
all data related to the process (temperatures, statuses, speed, alarms...) for all elements
making up the line.

1. Stop display button: This button allows the display to close all running tasks.
We strongly recommend to use this function before powering off the machine.
Sudden powering off could delete the report archiving files (§4) and cause
malfunctions.
2. Number of yarn learning button.
3. Reverse belt button: This button reverses the belt only when pressing it. This
button disappears when the machine is running.
4. Fault zone: this zone shows the faults in the form of icons. A scrolling text
banner provides additional explanations.
5. Yarn processing time (see §2).

B. Recipe page:
This page allows defining the recipes on the textile process.
This field displays the name of the recipe currently on screen. Pres-
sing this field allows entering a new name.
Pressing the button to display the list of all recipes and select one by pressing its
name.
This button is used to send the recipe on screen in the controller, to make it active.
After each modification of the recipe parameters, it must be returned to the controller for
the new recipe parameters to be considered.
Allows saving the recipe without sending it to the controller. This allows preparing
recipes for future production runs.

1. Copying a recipe
To create a recipe, it must be created from an existing recipe and its name changed.
To do this:
S Display the recipe having the parameters closest to the new one.
S Press the copy key , to create a new recipe automatically named ’rX’.
X designates the number of the next recipe (e.g. if 5 recipes existed beforehand,
the name would be r6).
S Press ’rX’ to change the recipe’s name, without omitting to save it by pressing
S Display the recipe to remove, then press to clear it definitely. Please note
that no more recipe will be displayed on screen. A new one must be selected or
quit the page.
NOTES :
The fields matching the number of yarns and yarn name are used to
calculate the production run. When operating with a MAT3, these
parameters are used to calculate the belt speed setting of the MAT3.
Therefore, enter proper values in these fields.
This blinking image indicates that the recipe displayed is that running
in the machine. Any modification mist be validated by the send key
and will have an instant effect on the machine’s operation.

At each stop, a countdown is displayed in the home page (see §1). When the parking
time is exceeded, the following sequence is run:
1. LV3 stops and reports the fault (orange lamp, fast blinking).
2. Then restart.
The belt and MAT start until the LV2 zone is evacuated.
3. The machine stops again.
The end of the L1 zone are now located on the rear frame. The yarn must be
cut on the level of its entry in the MAT.
4. Restart the machine. Only the belt starts.
Remove from the belt the yarn to discard up to automatic belt stop
5. Cut the yarn and perform the linking, with the MAT yarn.
6. Restart the LV3. The belt, laying and MAT run normally and fault signalling
disappears.

C. Curve page:
This page displays the temperature curves of the 3 HEP3s and the STV3.
Pressing the drawing of the accessory displays the curve concerned in full screen, as well
as the setting, measurement and % valve opening values.

D. Report page:
This page displays a report of the last 100 faults and command actions of the machine.
This button allows recording the report in the .csv format (compatible
with Excel) onto a USB key connected to the screen. This function must
have been activated in the configuration page (§6).
This icon appears if you attempt to save the report onto a USB key when
no USB key is connected to the screen.

E. User and password management page
At the start there are 4 users already predefined in the screen, corresponding to 4 levels
of authorisation:
The passwords are identical to those of the B401.
1. User logon:
To log on, press the key, in the top right angle. The following window displays:

1. Press the key, the entry keyboard appears. Deactivate the cap key, enter the
user name (e.g. boss), and validate by pressing Enter.
2. Enter the password identically.
3. Press the validation key to confirm the connection, then press the X key to
close the logon window.
Note: The name of the user connected appears in the upper menu bar.
Pressing the key again disconnects the user and his password, the name disap-
pears.
Without pressing this key, disconnection is performed automatically if there is no
action on the touch pad for 15 minutes.
The user connected is advised to close his connection once his modifica-
tions made to prevent any mishandling by a non authorized person.

2. Creating / modifying / removing a user
A level 9 (administrator) connection is required to have access to this function.
Note: Only the Superba technician knows the level 9 password of the admin user
present upon delivery of the machine. The client must create his own level 9 user,
with help from the Superba technician.

F. Configuration page
This page allows configuring the machine upon its installation. In addition to adjusting
the units and maximum speed to convert in m/min, the following functions are available:

Access to the maintenance page
In the normal mode, the maintenance page allows viewing the temperatures, percen-
tage valve opening, as well as the settings generated in mA, the speed settings in
volts sent to the regulators.
To switch to the ’Maintenance’ mode, check the ’run mode’ switch on the control

This page allows optimising the behaviour of the temperature regulations. Chan-
ging these settings is very rarely required.
We can note the following functions:
These numbers must be supplied during contacts with the Superba’s technical
After--sales.
This page allows programming the behaviour of the buzzer, the orange light ele-
ment, auxiliary outputs (A11.0 and A11.1, see electric diagram page 285, module
MD285.01) and machine stop for each accessory.

G. Print screen’ button
If a USB key is connected to the screen, pressing this button makes a snaps-
hot of the current display, and saves it onto the USB key connected, in the
.jpg format.
This may be useful during contacts with Superba’s technical after--sales.
All the information on the setting and use of the regulators located in the electric diagram of
the LV3 cabinet.
A new programme may be loaded in the screen with a simple USB key.
The operating mode is:
S Have an empty USB key formatted in FAT32
S Unzip the LV3_120_USB.zip file (e.g. if version 1.20)
S Copy all the files obtained on the USB key.
Caution ! Copy the content of the LV3_120_USB folder, and not the folder itself. Normally
there should be 6 files + 1 PUBLIC folder.
S Power off the display and disconnect the connection with the API.
S Insert the USB key into the USB port of the display.
S Power on the screen and wait for a message offering to install a new project.
S Click YES and wait for the installation to complete.
S When the ’installation complete’ message displays, disconnect the USB key and click Res-
tart.
S Reconnect the connection with the controller.
