Name of Course: INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS & INFORMATION PROCESSING


Course Code: CSC101

Prerequisite/co-requisite: None
Summary:
This is the first course in the information and computer fields. This course is designed to introduce
the functions of computer, computer hardware, software programs, computer security, and
information system. Instructions will be given on using application packages such as Microsoft
Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint, and creating Web pages.

Course Learning Outcomes:


Upon completing this course, the students will be able to:
CLO1: Explain the characteristics and functionalities of computers and handled devices,
softwares, hardwares, storages and computer applications. (C2, PLO1)
CLO2: Construct work documents, design and lab reports using Microsoft Office software. (P3,
PLO6)
CLO3: Interpret the fundamentals concepts particularly in relation to security and privacy issues
into real life situations. (C3, PLO2).

Lectures, Tutorials and Laboratory work, delivered in a combination of blended & independent
learning

E-Learning provided by INTI makes learning more accessible and convenient for the students.
The blended model utilized by INTI is the integration of E-learning via INTI’s Learning

Final exam format:


Duration: 2 hours
The students will be required to answer:
Section A: TWENTY multiple-choice questions. (20 marks, each carry 1 mark)
Section B: TEN fill-in-the- blanks questions (20 marks, each carry 2 marks)
Section C: FOUR subjective questions: TWO flowcharts-based questions and TWO long or
short essays questions (60 marks)

Grading Scale:
A+ (96% – 100%), A (90% – 95%), A- (86% – 89%), B+ (82% – 85%), B (78% – 81%),
B- (74% – 77%), C+ (70% – 73%), C (65% – 69%), C- (60% – 64%), D+ (55% – 59%),
D (50% – 54%), F (Below 50%)

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Final Examination is compulsory. Missed Final Exam will result in F grade.
