MADA PROCEM
Mada PROCEM is a light weight non asbestos cement board product
composed of Portland cement, light aggregate material and silica sand
that is classified as A1 non-combustible. Equipped with world class
manufacturing process from Europe, our board acquires the physical
properties, durability and strength of cement and easy workability due to
it being up to 15% lighter than other type of cement board.
Mada PROCEM is available in standard thickness of 12.5, 15, & 20mm.
Length varying from 1,800 – 2,400mm, Standard width is 1,200mm

Mada PROCEM cement board is intentionally developed to have some fine micro-cracking in the board. The micro-cracking
allows the re-distribution of internal stress within the board induced by forces caused by transport, handling, installation
and/or external load imposed onto the structure. The existence of micro-cracks is not a product defect.

STORAGE & HANDLING

The boards must be stored on a flat base, sheltered from sun and moisture. It is advisable to keep them covered on
site for as long as possible, even when the stack is in use. If timber bearers are used to store boards on site, they
should be minimum 40mm wide and placed at maximum 600mm center.

Stacks should be lifted with a fork lift truck, the forks being set so there is an even weight distribution and no
deformation of the pack. Ensure handling equipment is of adequate capacity and that the personal are advised of
handling procedures and safety clothing.

Carry the boards upright and always be handled by two persons supporting one long edge and gripping upper edge to
avoid breaking due to flexing.

Site condition:
Mada PROCEM Cement board systems can sustain the heat exposure to temperatures ranging +45°C to +60°C or to
freezing conditions for a long period without any damage.

When storing the boards inside the building it is necessary to take into account the carrying capacity of ceiling /floor
structures. Boards should be stored at least 48 hours in the installation space before fixing so that the humidity in the
boards and the ambience may equalize.

The systems should be installed after the completion and proper drying of all wet processes in the interior (especially
floor screeds and plastering of masonry or concrete surfaces). Humidity of the walls and ceilings should be stable,
interior surfaces dry and concrete cured. Installation of the dry-wall systems should be performed only after the
windows have been installed and the building has been closed to the weather elements.

Jointing may be performed only after no significant changes in temperature and humidity are expected and the room
temperature is maintained above +5 °C.

Health & Safety

Mada PROCEM should be handled with care. When cutting, It is required that a protective mask is worn by the
applicators as dust may be generated which may irritate the respiratory system, eyes or sensitive skin. In addition
please ensure that cutting of the board is done in an area with adequate ventilation. For further information, please
see Material Safety Datasheet of Mada PROCEM.

Required tools
Mada PROCEM boards are cut / formatted by an electric power saw with a diamond blade. Mada PROCEM is fastened
by self-tapping or self-drilling screws.

In addition other standard drywall tools are required for proper application.

Installation
Boards must always be installed with rough surface as the face side & the smooth surface as the back side.

The rough surface acts as a perfect subtract for fixing of the tiles or for plastering/painting

Fixing
Mada PROCEM can be fixed to steel frames of at least 0.55mm thicknesses. The board must be supported at the edge
at intermediate positions with centers not exceeding 600mm and must be located more than 15mm from edges, 50
mm from board corners and screw spacing ≤ 250mm.

Fastener
Fasteners can be both nails and screws. It can be nailed directly to timber supports with rounds wire nails. For metal
screws. The size and length of the screw will depend on the thickness of the board and the gauge of framing. Pre-
drilling the board is a must, otherwise, self-embedding, self-drilling head screws (Mada CB25 for fixing 12.5mm board
to galvanized steel frame are preferred)

FINISHING
Painting
Painting materials based on acrylic or polyvinyl-acetate
dispersion are best suited for the final surface treatment
of the Mada PROCEM cement boards. The optimal way
of application of paint is using a roller. Alkaline paints
such as lime based paints, silicate based paints and pure
silicate paints are not suitable to be applied on gypsum
plasterboards.

Tiling
Mada PROCEM cement boards are the best solution for areas
where intermittent moisture conditions are more common,
including kitchens and bathrooms, even for areas of high or
extreme moisture environments. When Mada PROCEM cement
boards are used as tile backing boards, they should be fixed
to framing with the rough side facing out. This will ensure
better bond of the tile adhesive to greater specific surface of
the board. In extreme moisture environments and in areas
where liquid water is coming to contact with boards, the
exposed surfaces of boards should be treated with a suitable
water-proofing system (i.e. Mada PROCEM Damp Proof
Membrane). Mada Wall, Wall Lining and Shaft-wall systems
will hold tiles of any usual dimension with weight up to 35kg/
m2 (be sure to use the tile adhesive systems suitable for
plasterboard and/or cement board background respectively).

Wall paper
Wallpapers (paper, non-woven, textile and synthetic
wallpapers) are bonded to the board surface by water-soluble
adhesives.
