ICE, we use the pronoun IT so we say: it melts.
We can often use WHEN instead of IF and it has the same
meaning.
If you keep milk in the fridge, it lasts longer.
When you keep milk in the fridge, it lasts longer.
Structure of zero conditional
If + present simple, present simple.
First conditional
We use the first conditional when talking about a condition in
the present with a prediction or a real possibility that its effect
will happen in the future. For example:
- If he has a balanced diet, you will be healthy
- If it rains, I won't go to the park.
- If I study today, I will go to the party tonight.
- If I have enough money, I will buy some new shoes.
Structure of first conditional
If + simple present, will + base verb
Example: If I see you later, I will say hello.
Second conditional
The second conditional is used to imagine present or future
situations that are impossible or unlikely in reality.
Example: If we had a garden, we could have a cat.
If I won a lot of money, I'd buy a big house.
The structure is:
If + past simple >> + would + infinitive.
