MISM 5201 Pre-Requisite N/A Course Aims 1. To develop students' awareness of the theoretical aspects of process identification, analysis and improvements. 2. To develop a working knowledge of the analytical skills, methods and managing the development of business systems through models, with particular emphasis on team management 3. To develop a range of technical competencies, including the business architecture into simulation-based business systems.

Business Process Modelling Approaches A Framework for Business Process Management Business Process Identification Business Process Analysis - Qualitative analysis (Value-added analysis, root cause analysis, pareto analysis, issue register) - Quantitative analysis (flow analysis, process cost analysis, queuing analysis (Poisson process modelling), simulation) Business Process Redesign - Cost redesign measures - Time redesign - Quality redesign - Flexibility considerations Dynamic Synthesis Methodology Harnessing Business Process Strategy in Practice Business process Measurement Business process Improvement Developments in Business Process Modelling Research Unit review Methodology All lectures have tutorial/practical sessions as well as demonstrations. A range of individual and group-based tutorial and assignments are widely used. A wide range of computer-based learning and other tools are used to support the student's learning process. Use of real-life case studies and individual literature review of current developments in the business process modelling filed. Seminars and debates in which staff and students are pro-active and interactive are used.
