Angeleno Corps. Hello, my name is Charlin Gavina. I am a dedicated high school student, currently revalidating my high school studies from Mexico. I have a deep passion for the field of law and a strong interest in politics, particularly in understanding and advocating for the diverse laws and regulations in the United States. My ultimate dream is to pursue a career in law and actively engage in politics to support and empower the Latino community, women, and other minority groups.
The reason I am particularly interested in the Angeleno program is
because it offers invaluable opportunities such as mentoring and internship programs. These opportunities would enable me to gain real- world experience, kickstart my career, and work towards securing a better future job. I am deeply interested in studying the intricacies of legal systems, understanding the laws that govern society, and applying that knowledge to make a positive impact. I am passionate about advocating for the rights of underrepresented communities. Through my studies in Law, I aim to equip myself with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute to the legal field and ultimately work towards a more just and equitable society. Do you have any work or internship experience? If so, can you tell me about them? Yes, I have worked in various roles, including as a waitress and a sales consultant. These positions have provided me with opportunities to develop strong customer service skills, effectively communicate with diverse individuals, and work efficiently in fast-paced environments. Currently, I am also participating in an internship through the WIOA program. One challenge I faced was during my transition from the education system in Mexico to the American education system. Moving to a new country and adapting to a different academic environment presented various hurdles. I had to quickly familiarize myself with new teaching methods, cultural norms, and language proficiency requirements. Additionally, the revalidation process for my high school studies required extensive paperwork and coordination. Despite these challenges, I remained determined and proactive. Through perseverance and a strong work ethic, I I am still working on it to these obstacles and managed to excel academically in my new educational setting.
