‘Emerging trends in hotel housekeeping department’ which also helped me in doing a lot of
research and get knowledge more about housekeeping department in this current post covid-
19 .Internet has been the one and only great source in this project information for me in this
project.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report was commissioned to examine how the housekeeping department is emerging with
the latest technologies and machineries to run a hotel smoothly and how it plays a major role
post covid to keep everyone in and around hotel safe. The reopening of hotels in the present
context makes them take strict safety measures and new technologies and equipments to reduce
to a minimum the exposure of their workers and clients to the SARS-COV-2 virus (COVID19)
through their products and services which is discussed in the report.
The research draws attention that how housekeeping plays an important role in running of a
hotel, and how it it’s a major source of revenue for the hotel. It basically shows a hotel cannot
run without this department for even a minute, from arrival of the guest, staying, linens and to
the departure housekeeping have a huge role to play.
This report states, about the new technologies and machineries which helps the hotel specially
the housekeeping department to run smoothly, the second topic stressed about the chemicals that
are being used not only in this industry but by most of the institution to keep people around safe
and to compact the spread the portable covid virus and other deadly viruses, This report also
showed the protocols used by hotel industry post covid to keep its guest and its staff safe.
SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF EACH REPORT:

the report.
The Important biosafety protocols have been implemented by the hotel businesses to guarantee
the safety of everyone in the hotel and create trust. These protocols have changed the operational
standards and procedures of all the departments in a hotel, mainly in Housekeeping, for it is the
one in charge of the signature product of a hotel.
We have entered a world of change and the hospitality industry has been deeply impacted. Now,
with regions across the globe reopening, the consideration of what it means to live and travel in
this in this strange new world has begun to kick in

In 2014 Aloft Hotels became the first hotel brand to use robot technology, introducing ALO,
robotic butler in its cupertino location.
◆ SCRUBBER DRIERS: These are the machines capable of both scrubbing and
drying a floor in the same. Cleaning is achieved by one, two or three rotary
brushes. The soiled water is removed from the surface by a squeeze approx, one
and a half times wider than the working width of the brushes. Operators may walk
behind or ride on machines depending on the size. This machine helps in reducing
man power by doing two works simultaneously, but needs a lot of care and daily

Pest control
The best practice is to conduct regular service, with an integrated pest management approach.
This exercise not only involves the pest management company, but also the hotel’s management,
facilities, maintenance and housekeeping staff, and guests as well. The F&B department covers
almost every aspect of a hotel or motel’s operation.
Waste prevention
Waste can be minimized by replacing disposable room amenities with refillable or reusable
substitutes. Purchasing guidelines need to be established to encourage the use of durable,
repairable equipment, and reusable products such as linen and tableware. Soap and toiletries can
be donated to local shelters.

Chemical adaptations in the housekeeping department post
covid19:
Survey of safety protocols and the disinfectants are requested by the department of
health and sanitization for the lemon tree hotel post covid19. The protocols were
planned and implemented as soons as the pandemic started to widespread.

Protocols/Practices in the Housekeeping department.
The lemon tree hotel has installed portable sensor wash basins at all entry points of the hotel.
This helped the guest at the main porch to sanitize and then enter the lobby. For the team
members there is one portable wash basin near the time office to ensure that before they use the
biometric they sanitize their hands to avoid the virus to spread.
We’ve entered a world of change and the hospitality industry has been deeply impacted. Now,
with regions across the globe reopening the consideration of what it means to live and travel in
this strange covid-19 world has begun.
This includes changes throughout all hotel departments; housekeeping is the bedrock of security
as cleanliness is critical to safety. Cleaning a hotel room is a core part. Hotel safety for guest and
employees ensuring safety of staff and guest, rebuts cleaning SOP.
