380 Battery

The document provides calculations to size batteries and battery chargers for a 125V DC system for a 380kV substation. It calculates that the system will require two batteries, each with 58 lead-acid cells, to handle continuous loads of 36,290W and maximum momentary loads of 291.5A from events like circuit breaker trips. It also specifies allowable voltage ranges and charging parameters for the battery system.

2.b Restoration Loads (Momentary Loads) (TES-P-103.02/Rev 01 clause 2.4.c) :

CHK'D

S.S

Restoration of the Substation Loads is considered at the end of the duty cycle

Under normal situation, closing sequence of breakers will be done manually in sequential order selecting one
breaker at a time. The normal motor running time is approx. 120 sec, Even if it is assumed that the mechanism of one breaker fails, the second
breaker will be closed after the failure of the first. The total momentary load will be one after another and will not be for more than one minute

Worst contingency case for assessing the Maximum Momentary Closing load of the system is to consider the following:

a Closing load of (2) 380kV Circuit Breakers [As per Attachment - 1] =2 X 4.0 = 8 A
b Tripping load of (2) 380kV Circuit Breaker [As per Attachment - 1] =2 X (4+4) = 16 A
c Starting load of (2) DS/ES Switch [As per Attachment - 1] =2 x 60 = 120 A
d Running load of (2) DS/ES Switch [As per Attachment - 1] =2 x 10.0 = 20 A

Starting load is considered as 5 times of running load as per TES-P-103.02/Rev 01, cl.no. 2.5
# Starting load considered as per Manufacturer requirement
Restoration Time Momentary Load=a+b+c+d = 164.0 A
