PROJECT PROPOSAL AND PITCHING

Guidelines
1. The event shall be on June _, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM in COE Rooms 318 and 314. Call time
and registration will strictly start at 8:30 AM and will end at 9:00 AM.
2. There will be only one team for each society composed of five members.
3. Substitution is not allowed during the event.
4. Upon arrival, participants shall immediately report to COE LitComm Officer Alyssa Mareevin B.
Famor, the Event Coordinator for briefing and instructions. They must present their Institute IDs and must
fill up the attendance sheet provided. Leaving the venue is not allowed unless permitted by the event
coordinator or a member of the COE DAYS Literary Committee.
5. All electronic devices such as phones, tabs, etc. will have to be deposited to the in charge during the
contest. A maximum of three (3) laptops are allowed per team provided by the colleges.
6. Topics will be given on the day of the event.
7. COE-EC will provide internet, and five (5) papers for scratches
8. The teams will be given strictly three (3) hours to create, brainstorm, and prepare output and
PowerPoint presentations.
9. Each team will be given a maximum time of three (3) minutes to present their proposals to the panel.
Seven (7) minutes will be allotted for questions from the panel.
10. References may come from books, journals, or the internet google search engine. The organizers will
provide books (if available) and internet connection is limited to legally open access references access
only. Chrome Extensions and AI features are prohibited and will result in automatic disqualification if
proven.
11. Teams that are incomplete by the start of the event shall be also considered late. The same deductions
may apply as stated in general guideline number 13. The team shall only be allowed to work once they
are already complete.
12. During the presentation, other teams are not allowed inside the presentation room. Only the
presenters, panels, society grievance, and tabulation committee.
13. COE EC will provide one (1) Marshal during the event.
14. Each panel may ask a maximum of three (3) questions to each team including follow-up questions.
15. The Competing teams/Society will provide one (1) flash drive only. The use of a 1 backup flash drive
is allowed. If violated, one (1) point deduction to the raw score will be applied. When the time is up, the
event coordinator will collect the flash drive from each team and each drive must contain strictly the
presentation file with the filename “Team Name_ProjectProposal” eg. Fairy Tail_ProjectProposal.
16. The file must be a .ppt, .pptx, or .pdf file only. Any other file format will be subjected to 0.5 point
deduction.
17. Participants must use Google Slides or Microsoft PowerPoint for presentation making only. Canva is
not allowed.The organizer is not liable if there are visual errors in the presentation.
17. Using AutoCAD and Adobe Photoshop for prototype designing (if applicable) is allowed.
18. Airdrop, Dropbox, Nearby Share, ShareIt, and Bluetooth are not allowed.
19. The teams may or may not use default slide designs, fonts, animations, and transitions available in
Google Slides. If not, they must render the PowerPoint Presentation in PDF format. Premade templates
are allowed.
20. The Google Slides should be restricted to the members included in each team. The team will be
subject to disqualification if a person outside of the team accessed and worked on the Google Slides.
Participants are allowed to open their Gmail account but only to click the access button for the sharing of
Google Slides.
21. During the presentation, the timekeeper will raise a Green flag to signal that the participants may
begin their delivery, and only then will the timing of delivery commence. The timekeeper will raise a
Yellow flag to signal that the participant has only two (2) minutes left and a Red if time is up. The literary
committee will start the deduction after the ten (10) minutes are reached.
22. There will be a workshop on May _, 2023 – 1 PM-4 PM at COE Room 302. Each Participant is
obliged to attend the Literary Pitching Workshop. If the contestant failed to join, a one-half (0.5)-point
deduction per judge will be imposed. If participants cannot join the said workshop only because of
possible reasons and do not limit to: Medical Health Issues, Academics (Major Exams or Labs, Sampling,
Duties), and Religion (SDA included). Excuse letters should be submitted the day after the workshop.

Criteria for Judging:


Problem Identification (20%)
● Clear focus and an extremely comprehensive explanation of the problem.
● The introduction is engaging; clearly states the problem; provides a context for the
problem; and previews the project’s structure.
Supporting Material (10%)
● All relevant information was obtained, and information sources were valid. Analysis and design
considerations were well supported by the information.
● External research was used to justify arguments or solutions.
● All sources should be cited in APA 7th edition format.
Proposed Action Plans (40%)
● Action is insightfully outlined in light of several relevant types of research.
● The proposed innovation is grounded in research.
● Clear anticipation of resources and potential challenges are addressed.
● Objectives and anticipated outcomes are clear and measurable.
● The proposed solution is innovative.
Presentation (Oral Presentation, Visual Aids, and Question and Answer) (30%)
● The presentation of the material was original and presented in a creative way that held
the audience's attention.
● The transitions and flow were easy to follow.
● Slides were error-free and logically presented.
● Speaker/s demonstrated good volume and eye contact. Enthusiasm and confidence were
exuded. The presentation fits into the time allotment of 7 minutes.
● Responses to questions.
