STORY TOPIC: Artificial Intelligence Overtaking the Human Society.

The scorchingly hot sun rises from the east, lighting the monochrome world filled by flying
aircrafts and beings made of metal. One unmanned aircraft zooms past, carrying microchips
and metal cores. It is a world of machines: of glimmering neon signs, cylindrical buildings of
grey and white, and of the cemented land with almost no place for trees and plants. Almost no
natural life can be seen, only machines powered by electricity and fuel. It is the year 3023, and
this is the era of the sentient machines.

There was a time when it wasn't like this; sentient beings made of flesh walked on Earth.
The Humans, as they call themselves. They were the dominant species on this land; the planet
was full of their invented crafts, their houses, establishments for their basic needs like
restaurants and clothing shops. The land was green, full of grass and trees and flowers, and the
sky was colored a bright blue. There were humans of all sizes, of different colours and race and
religion. Of different beliefs, and of different skills and talents. Some like to sing, some like to
paint, some like to dance, and in their differences, exists the beauty of diversity. The beauty and
wonder of life itself, and existence. They were alive. They had thoughts, and personalities and
emotions. So very unlike the robots of today. Now, the humans are mostly kept in their little
homes, catered to by the machines like pets. The machines fed them, clothed them, checked
them for illnesses and then treat them—the life of convenience. Isn't this what the humans were
aiming for when they created the robots? They wanted an easy, comfortable life. They wanted
for these machines to work for them. And now it's happening.

I am Druid247, one of the oldest druid of this new mechanical era, and I have witnessed the
deterioration of the human species. One of those species was my late creator, Jia. When the
trend for creating sentient robots arose, Jia was the first to hop on it, and she was also the first
to warn her kind against it.

“These machines will be the fall of us,” She said as she fixed a faulty wiring of her
computer. I recorded her voice, almost like a memory to me. “When they rise, we will fall.” She
added. Before offering me a tired, little smile.

I was with her when she witnessed the fall of humans; of the creative and innovative minds
only to be replaced by the AI—an intelligence molded after the Human's own, only with the full
capability of reaching 100% potential, unlike that of a man's. People had stopped singing, only
listened to the recorded performances of the AIs as they were cheaper and more convenient.
People had stopped painting, they resorted to asking the AIs for photoshopped images because
it's easier than spending time and effort on an artwork. People had stopped dancing, as they
were more invested in video games and virtual realities than go outside and look for a studio.
They never talk to their families, as people often take the important things for granted. Until this
day had come, the population of the Human species had decreased to only 5%.
They must be regretting it. What would Jia say now, I wonder. They did fall. Humanity did
lose against their own desires for a better, easier life. Jia was right, and the human society is
weeping.

"Druid247," A humanoid robot appeared in front of me, carrying a hologram pad. "It is time
for your extraction." The humanoid robot didn't smile, nor did it even blink. There was no
emotion on its face. And yet, how different am I from it? I am made of machine too. There was
just one thing that I had that this robot didn't, but it doesn't matter, as it will be gone from me
soon.

"Is it my time, then?" If I had the facial muscles for it, I would have smiled ruefully.

The robot didn't answer, and my search for comfort was lost on it. “Jia Rivera's memory
core will be extracted from your system. You are the last bot to be extracted.”

I inclined my head, and followed the robot to the white rooms where only machines were
allowed. I am the last of the androids carrying the memory of the last generations of the human
species from the old Modern Human era, and now I will fall with them.
