This document discusses using video and animation in education. It provides examples of using recorded classroom videos, video prompts, movies, commercials, and split screen techniques in the classroom. It also discusses how educational animations have become more popular and easier to create with advances in technology. Well-designed animations and videos can help students learn faster and easier by depicting dynamic processes and concepts. The document also provides specific examples of using video recordings to study child development, assess students, incorporate storytelling into projects, communicate with parents, and facilitate teacher professional development.

content
• Using recorded classroom videos(Child Development , Early childhood Education)
• Using video prompts in classroom.
• Lesson planning using video resources.
• Using movies in Education.
• Using video commercial in education.
• Using split video techniques in classroom.
Educational animation
• The popularity of using animations to help learners understand and remember information
has greatly increased since the advent of powerful graphics-oriented computers. This
technology allows animations to be produced much more easily and cheaply than in former
years. Previously, traditional animations required specialized labor-intensive techniques that
were both time-consuming and expensive. In contrast, software is now available that makes it
possible for individual educators to author their own animations without the need for specialist
expertise. Teachers are no longer limited to relying on static graphics but can readily convert
them into educational animations.
Animations for education
• Educators are enthusiastically taking up the opportunities that computer animation
offers for depicting dynamic content. For e-g , PowerPoint now has an
easy-to-use animation facility that, in the right hands, can produce very effective
educational animations. Because animations can explicitly depict changes over time
(temporal changes), they seem ideally suited to the teaching of processes and
procedures. When used to present dynamic content, animations can mirror both the
changes in position (transition), and the changes in form (transformation) that are
fundamental to learning this type of subject matter.
Cont…
• In contrast with static pictures, animations can show temporal
change directly (rather than having to indicate it indirectly using auxiliary markings
such as arrows and motion lines). Using animations instead of
static graphics removes the need for these added markings so that displays can
be not only simpler and less cluttered, but also more vivid, engaging, and more
intuitively comprehended. In addition, the learner does not have to interpret the
auxiliary markings and try to infer the changes that they summarize. Such
interpretation and inference may demand a level of graphicacy skills that the
learner does not possess.
Educational effectiveness
• Well-designed animations may help students learn faster and easier. They are also
excellent aid to teachers when it comes to explaining difficult subjects. The difficulty
of subjects may arise due to the involvement of mathematics or imagination. For
instance, the electric current is invisible. The operation of electric circuits is difficult
for students to understand at the beginning. With the aid of computer animations,
learning and teaching might become easier, faster and amusing.
• Video in the classroom is powerful, because it has the ability to make the
classroom come alive, and make meaningful learning experiences and
connections. Video allows you to deliver long-lasting images, and reach
children with various learning styles. But how do you make sure you’re
keeping things fresh?
Video Recording for Child Development
• Child studies and development is a branch of education theory that involves the
teaching of young children. The practice of early childhood education has been
gaining significant traction and has become a prevalent public policy issue. This key
initiative has brought about many new teaching strategies and technologies for use
in children development and the use of digital video recording systems is prominent
component.
Cont…..
• The VALT(Video Audio Learning Tool)digital video recording system for child
studies and development uses state-of-the- art equipment to assist teachers who are
educating young children. Educators can record development sessions and analyze
the content to increase teaching efficiency, develop new skill sets, and improve the
efficacy of individual lesson plans.

• Recording child development as it progresses also allow educators to build and

organize a digital video library for use in training other teachers and administrators.
Video Equipment for early childhood
education
• The VALT is an inexpensive and powerful tool for use in recording child studies.
VALT employs a central server to store all video content. Video is recorded in
standard mp4 format and is viewable by anyone with proper access using nothing
but a common internet browser, such as Firefox, Chrome or Safari. No special
viewing equipment is required- any PC, tablet or smart phone with an internet
browser can access the video library.
1) Flip your Classroom –but for Real
• Flipped classroom allows for a student to never again miss a lesson. Essentially, that
style of teaching allows you to breakdown your classroom walls, and expand
learning outside of the classroom. With a recorded lesson , students can watch an un
interrupted lesson as many times as they need to at their own pace. Students don’t
have to stop at just watching your lessons- they can view information from other
teachers and experts to gain new perceptive.
What Equipment Do You Need to Produce
Videos? At the Minimum:
• A recording device (webcam, camera or screen casting software)

• Access to editing software(iMovie, windows movie maker, or an online tool)

• Computer ,laptop, or tablet

• An online presence to post videos like youtube, schoolTube, or Vimeo.

• Consider creating simple videos using screencast-o-matic , or Quicktime player.
Theses tools allow you to screencast(record) what’s on your computer screen ,
meaning you can record audio and video. To supplement, there are some great
digital content resources like PBS leaning media, Youtube, Watchknowlearn and
Discovery Education that are sure to bring amazing experiences for your students.
2)Jazz up Student Assessment
Student can show their learning in unique ways- such as by recording themselves
reading a book ,passage or an essay that they wrote , or recording labs, or science
experiments. Try using the camera app on your ipad, iphone, or Chromebook to
achieve that, or for audio only, there’s Audioboom.
3) Bring Video into student projects and
storytelling
• Projects are a staple in most classroom, so here are two tools to help students
incorporate more storytelling into those projects. And for the record , these projects
don’t need to be confined to your own class. For example , students could use the
following tools to showcase school events through student lead broadcast teams, or
news channels.
4) Think about parent communication
• Are you worried that parents aren’t reading your emails? Add excitement to a parent
weekly newsletter or email by creating a video , instead. Using green screen apps
like Touchcast or Do Ink, you can create amazing video projects with your students
that grabs any parents attention.
5) Use video for professional development
best practices
• We can’t forget about ourselves, teachers. Teachers can create amazing video
recordings of class room best practices and store them on a website, or Youtube
channel using a Ricoh Theta Camera that records a 360 degree view of a room.
