A chance to reflect on how humanity has been treating our Mother Earth – this is what the letter wanted
to give us. We are all aware that we have been poor custodians of our fragile home. Yet, we remained apathetic
and ignorant. What we have to do is to stop our selfishness and greed. Instead, we must work together as a
global community to save the only home we have – our Mother Earth. We were awakened with the fact that the
turning point of the world’s destiny lies in the awakening of conscience in global citizens and that we must act
immediately to save the Earth and humanity with thoughts and actions of love and conscience not just for our
beloved home but also for one another. Everyone’s daily self-reflection, correction of their mistakes, and good
Through this letter, we have realized that despite all the ways that we can search online on how to save
the planet, the most important thing we can do is to apply conscience in everything that we do to change the
world for the better. We must gather the power of goodwill from all walks of life and encourage people that we
can protect and sustain our world with conscience. Conscience is the wellspring of power that turns the world
around. If we are willing to do something, we will have the power to do it. When we use our conscience and
willpower to encourage good deeds and combine the strength of all people, nothing is impossible. What can we
do in the face of war, famine, wounded land, and crying people in a troubled world? Let us sincerely pray that
people will soon reclaim their innate good hearts that are full of love and peace. By expressing our blessings
Only when global citizens act with conscience, respect human rights, stop war and chaos with love, live
in peace with nature, and strive to protect the health of nature, we can ensure humanity’s continued existence
and happiness. Only by creating a good cycle among ourselves and between humans and nature, and truly
becoming "allies" in harmony and prosperity, will we be able to fully unleash human ingenuity, maintain a
balance between technological development and environmental protection, and protect the health and well-

being of the Earth and humans, ensuring that mountains remain green and water remains clean for future
generations.
Letter of 2070
Water is at the core of sustainable development and is critical for socio-economic development, healthy
ecosystems and for human survival itself. Water is a finite and irreplaceable resource that is fundamental to
human well-being. It is only renewable if well managed. Today, more than 1.7 billion people live in river basins
where depletion through use exceeds natural recharge, a trend that will see two-thirds of the world’s population
living in water-stressed countries by 2070. This letter conceptualizes a world where the most valuable resource
is water. That’s because not only humans and other living beings need it to survive, but also because there is a
“Don’t waste water for no water means no life.” This quote summarizes the message of the whole letter.
Never before has the survival or our life pattern depended on water. The water crisis, exacerbated by climate
change, affects us all, but it will affect new generations even more. There is an urgent need for change to find
accurate diagnoses that will lead to effective solutions. The water connects, sustains, and supports us all. But in
the near 2070, there’s a perceived threat of severe insufficiency of water resources. That’s why as early as now,
we need to work together to create a new balance with our various water resources so it would no longer deplete
its bounty but instead its vibrancy and brings it new life for the future generations. In Buddhism, the cause of all
pain and suffering is ignorance. In the letter, it was mentioned that warnings about saving water was ignored,
which was the reason why all the rivers, lakes, dams, and underground water beds are either dry or
contaminated. What is ignorance? You think that which is not permanent is permanent. As for the content of the
letter, the older generation (men and women in their 50s) in 2070 thought that abundant sources of water is
permanent. As a consequence, they have suffered from their misleading action towards the environment during
we must recalibrate our ways towards water consumption through educating and informing ourselves and others
of the effective and sustainable ways to conserve water. Therefore, we must stop the ignorance and equipped

2. In this scripture passage, what is written about the cause of this disaster?
In this scripture passage, the divine disaster is caused by man’s sin. God saw that human
wickedness became so extensive that judgment was required, resulting in flood. The Lord saw
that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his
heart was only evil continually and it grieved God “to his heart”. That’s why God sent the
floodwaters as a judgment, a block in the way of humanity’s wickedness that rose out of the grief
of his heart. Genesis describes the flood as the de-creation of the world—the earth sinks back
into the chaotic waters that God cleared away on page one of the Bible
3. What actions were taken by God’s people to prepare for or respond to the disaster that
happened? What were the results?
As wickedness spread on the earth, the Lord called Noah to teach the gospel to his
people. Noah warned the people that they must repent and be baptized or they would be
destroyed by floods. Not only did the people refuse to follow Noah's counsel, but they also
became angry and wanted to kill him. Noah's contemporaries were less than impressed with his
flood warnings. To them, he was a lunatic preacher working on an insane construction project.
He preached for one hundred and twenty years but Noah’s sincere warnings fell on deaf ears. No
one chose to correct his or her course and turn to God, despite Noah’s pleading that doing so
would save their lives. Even worse, the people mocked Noah, mercilessly ridiculing the old man
who was building a giant boat on dry land. When the people would not repent, the Lord told
Noah, "Behold, I do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh." To protect Noah
and his family from the flood, the Lord commanded him to build an ark, in which his family and
a certain number of animals would find safety. When the promised flood finally came, the door
of the ark swung shut, it was too late. The mocking laughter still rang out but when the rain
began to fall heavily, the people became horrified. The door was shut but they would pay the
ultimate price. The rain poured and the floodwaters rose and filled the earth. There was lift off
and the ark was afloat. Noah was not steering but God was clearly in control.
4. How did God use the situation to fulfill His bigger, long-term plans for the people on earth?
(e.g. to prepare for Jesus or to extend His kingdom?)
God used the situation to show us that His covenant with Noah was a commitment to
maintain the inherent relationship between Creator and creation; His relationship with the natural

order – implicit in the act of creation – whereby He promised never again to destroy the earth
with a flood. This divine pledge, given unconditionally to Noah and to every living creature on
earth, was accompanied by the sign of the rainbow. The flood wasn’t an act of wanton
destruction by a capricious God. God was acting to restore the goodness of his creation. The
story of God’s covenant with Noah has more relevance in our time than it has ever had before.
God brought about not only human but also ecological catastrophe which was the direct
consequence of human disobedience of God.
