CLOUD COMPUTING: PRACTICAL 1

Aim: implementation of virtualization using Hyper-V


1. Go to start and search turn windows feature on

2. Check the Hyper-V checkbox

3. Click OK and then click Restart now and restart the PC

(After then turn on the virtualization from the BIOS)


4. Open Hyper-V manager (run as administrator on PC)

5. Now select the connect to server option in the Actions on the right top of the screen as
shown:

6. Select local computer option and click OK

7. Click on new on the right Actions and click on New and select virtual machine

8. Click on Next and name your particular file (name_linux) and you can set location if
you want to.

9. Select Generation 1

10. Now assign memory and set it to 1GB or 1024MB.

11.Now configure the networking and keep it as default switch.

12. Create virtual hard disk and set size to 10GB

13. Install operating system from bootable CD/DVD-ROM by selecting the .iso file from
your drive on your device.

14. Now you can see the summary of your new virtual machine. Click on Finish.

15. Here you can see that your virtual machine is created.

16. Now start your virtual machine by right clicking on it and selecting Start. You’ll see a
small black window on the bottom, click on it.

17. Now you set up Ubuntu

18. Set your computers name and the password as follows:

19. Once all the installation and setup are done, this is how your Ubuntu environment will
look:
