TITLE OF THE SHORT STORY: “Win” By Kasturi Siva

The story “Win” by Kasturi Siva is a fascinating and enjoyable

to read, the story did a fantastic job with playing the reader mind and
moral. In my opinion, I do think “Win” is a suitable title for the story.

First of all, why I think “Win” is a suitable title for the story it is
because to humanise the character and justify he’s perspective. The
reason is even though the protagonist did an evil act but by using
“Win” it symbolises what he did is to support him and the people he
loves. Like a saying “he did the right thing in a wrong way” we can
see this in the story when the protagonist recall he did the act to open
a car wash business to support and save his sibling from his abusive
father.
Secondly, I strongly believe that “Win” is a suitable title for the
story because of the way the story concludes itself. The ending of the
story play with the reader feeling and moral by letting the protagonist
almost achieved his goal but with a twist that question the protagonist
moral it makes the reader questioning their self is it really a “Win” in
the end. We can see this in the story near the end when the
protagonist just stole the Chinese woman purse and discover
RM2000 but also find a fee letter of RM1800 to adopt the abuse kid
he met earlier in the story.
In conclusion, I do think that “Win” is a suitable title for the
story because to humanise the character and justify he’s perspective
and the way the story concludes itself. I really enjoy this type of story
that question the characters’ moral it makes you to choose either to
support or despise or at very least understand them.
