KTS-442 Data Transfer via Bluetooth

1. Upgrade Total Station firmware to Version 20190729


Note: Make sure to upgrade Total Station to version 20190729. If your Total Station’s firmware
version is already 20190729 or even higher, skip this procedure and go to step 2.

Following is upgrade method:

A. Download the upgrade file to computer.

B. Format SD card, and then copy the upgrade file to SD card.


C. Insert SD card to Total Station KTS-442. Press F1 and hold, power on the Total Station. After
you can see upgrade interface, release F1.
D. Total Station will upgrade automatically, and turn off after upgrade.

2. Connect Total Station and computer via Bluetooth


Note: There is no Bluetooth turn on/off option in Total Station KTS-442 program. It is default to turn
on.
A. Turn on Bluetooth Option in your computer.
B. Find Bluetooth Setting program in your computer, and make Bluetooth pairing with device
KXXXXXX. This device name is just same as your Total Station series number.

Paired

C. Run KTS Communication 2019, and click Comm, then click Connect, then you can see
Connecting textbox, and then a dialogue will prompt showing “Connected!”

3. Download JOB Data from Total Station to Computer


A. Power on Total Station, ESC → MEM → JOB → Comms output → LIST. Select the JOB data
that you want to download to computer.

B. Back to KTS Communication software in computer, and choose Download KTS Data (N). A
dialogue will prompt showing: “Please press Enter on computer, then press Enter on Total
Station!” Follow this instruction.
Note: Some computer may shut down Bluetooth connection automatically after a while. If you
meet such problem, repeat Step 2. C and reconnect Bluetooth before downloading data.

C. A dialogue will prompt showing “Complete!” Data Download through Bluetooth is finished.

4. Prepare the correct form of data to upload coordinate to KTS-442


Note: If you already have correct form of coordinate file, skip this procedure and go to Step 5.
A. Create New EXCEL document.
B. Write Point Name, code, E coordinate, N coordinate, Z coordinate one by one from A to E
line.

C. Save this file as CSV file.


D. Open this CSV file with Notepad.
E. Save this CSV file as TXT file.
F. This TXT file can be used as coordinate file to upload to Total Station with SD card, USB cable
or Bluetooth.

5. Upload Data from Computer to Total Station


Note: Make sure you upload data with correct form. If you do not know the correct form for data
upload, check step 4.

A. Run KTS Communication software in computer, choose File → Open, and import data from
Data file to Textbox.

B. Power on Total Station, ESC → MEM → JOB → Comms Input → LIST. Select the JOB name
that you want to import to Total Station. If you want to import to new JOB, just input new job
name in JOB selection interface

C. Connect computer with Total Station. (Take Step 2 for reference)

D. Back to KTS Communication software in computer, and choose “Upload KTS Coordinate (Y)”. A
dialogue will prompt showing: “Please press Enter on Total Station, then press Enter on Total
Station”. Follow this instruction.
Note: Some computer may shut down Bluetooth connection automatically after a while. If you meet
such problem, repeat Step 2. C and reconnect Bluetooth connection before downloading data.

E. A dialogue will show “Complete!” Data upload through Bluetooth is finished.

6. Data Transfer through USB Cable


A. Connect Computer and Total Station through USB cable.
B. Open KTS Communication software, and click Comm, and Connect(T), then you can see
Connecting textbox, and then a dialogue will prompt showing “Connected!”
C. Check Step 3-5 for details of data transfer procedure.

7. JOB Export through SD Card


A. Insert SD card to Total Station.
B. Power on Total Station, ESC → MEM → JOB →JOB Export →KOLIDA/ CASS→LIST. Select
the JOB data that you want to download to SD card, and press OK or Enter.
C.In File Output Interface, you can choose LIST and export JOB data to existing file or input new
JOB name and export JOB data to this new file. Press Enter or F4 (OK) to finish data export.

8. Coordinate Import through SD Card


A. Insert SD card to Total Station.
B. Power on Total Station, ESC → MEM → JOB →Coord. Import →LIST. Select the JOB data that
you want to import from SD card to Total Station. Press Enter.
C. In Select a Job interface, choose LIST and import JOB data to existing file or input new JOB
name and import JOB data to this new JOB. Press Enter or F4 (OK) to finish data export.
