Assignment No.1 (Due Date: 04/04/2022)

Q.No.1. Determine the dc equivalent circuit and ac equivalent circuit for the unloaded amplifier given in
figure 1.

Q.No.2. Determine the following values of the amplifier in figure 1

Q.No.3. Connect a bypass capacitor across RE in figure 1and repeat problem Q.No.2.

Q.No.4. Connect 10KΩ load resistor to the output in figure 1 and repeat Q.No.3.

Q.No.5. Determine the following dc values for the amplifier in figure 2.

Q.No.6. Determine the following ac values for the amplifier in figure 2

Q.No.7. Assume that 600Ω, 12µV rms voltage source is driving the amplifier in figure 2. Determine the
overall voltage gain by taking into the account the attenuation in the base circuit, and find the total
output voltage (ac and dc). What is the phase relationship of the collector signal voltage to the base
signal voltage?

Q.No.8. The amplifier in figure 3 has a variable gain control, using a 100Ω potentiometer RE, with the
wiper ac grounded. As the potentiometer is adjusted more or less of RE is bypassed to ground, thus
varying the gain. The total RE remains constant to dc, keeping the bias fixed. Determine the maximum
and minimum gain for this unloaded amplifier.

Q.No.9. If a load resistor of 600Ω is placed on the output of the amplifier in figure 3, what are the
minimum and maximum gains?

Q.No.10. Find the overall maximum voltage gain of the amplifier in figure 3 with 1KΩ load if it is driven
by 300Ω source.

Q.No.11. Determine the exact voltage gain for the unloaded emitter follower of figure 4.

Q.No.12. What is the total input resistance of figure 4? What is the dc output voltage?
Q.No.13. A load resistance is capacitively coupled to the emitter in figure 4. In terms of signal operation,
the load appears in parallel with RE and reduces the effective emitter resistance. How does this affect
the voltage gain?

Q.No.14. In Q.No.13 what value of RL will cause the voltage gain to drop to 0.9?

Q.No.15. For the circuit in figure 5 determine the following:

Q.No.16. Find the overall current gain Ai in figure 5.

Q.No.17. What are the main disadvantage of Common Base amplifier compared to common emitter and
emitter follower amplifiers?

Q.No.18. Find the Rin(emitter), Av, Ai and Ap for the unloaded amplifier in figure 6.
Q.No.19. For the two stage capacitively coupled amplifier in figure 7, find the following values.

Q.No.20. If the multistage amplifier in figure 7 is driven by 75Ω. 50µV source and the second stage is
loaded with RL= 18KΩ, determine

Q.No.21. Figure 8 shows direct coupled two stage amplifier. The dc bias of the first stage sets the dc bias
of the second. Determine all dc voltages for both stages and the overall ac voltage gain.
