She had an enthusiastic French teacher, Miss W, who managed to make learning French interesting using just a blackboard, chalk, and textbooks - long before the age of technology in classrooms. Miss W taught French in a theatrical way, leaping around the classroom with great enthusiasm and passion for the language. This helped Forster learn French to a level where she could have basic conversations and even have a pen pal in France. Forster also learned Spanish later on from another great teacher, Mrs J, showing the positive impact passionate teachers can have on students' language acquisition.
