the Octagon. All you need to do is put
the sub-idea in the octagon. When
you hear or see the word "engine",
what comes in to your mind?” (The class responds in various
answers.)

Gasoline Engine, but before we
proceed to the proper lesson, I want
you to read the objectives.
Everybody, please read the
objectives.”

(The teacher will post the objectives

on the board.)
Objectives

the student will be able to: (The students will read the
objectives.)
a. identify the main parts of
gasoline engine;
b. tell the importance of fuel
efficiency and emissions
reduction in modern
automotive gasoline engines;
and
c. create a diagram of four-
stroke cycle of the gasoline
engine.
B. Lesson Proper

(Before starting the activity, the

teacher will have the brief
explanation about the Gasoline
Engine.)

Gasoline Engine

What is Gasoline Engine? “A gasoline engine is an engine that

has a carburetor that mixes
gasoline fuel with an exact amount

internal combustion engine
that is designed to run on
gasoline.

 It has two types of engines: the

Diesel Engine and the
Gasoline Engine. But, in
today’s lesson, we will focus on
exploring the Gasoline engine.
 In a gasoline engine, it
supplies a mixture of air and
fuel (gasoline) into cylinders,
produces combustion, and
obtains power from the
thermal energy generated by
combustion. This explosion
generates high-pressure gases
that push the piston
downward, creating
mechanical energy.

(The class will be divided into four

groups. The teacher will provide
activity sheets and printed hand-
outs to each group.)

“Now, we will have a group activity,

but before that, I will group you into
4 groups.”

“Now, go to your respective group.” “Yes, sir.”

(They will go to their respective

group.)
“I will give this answer sheet to each
group as well as the printed hand-
outs of the topic. Do your activity
with in 10 minutes only and after “Yes, sir.”
that, you choose one representative
to discuss your output here in front.” “Okay sir.”

(The teacher will start distributing

the answer sheets and printed hand-
outs to each group.)

“Please read the instruction attach

on your answer sheet.”

a diagram of four-stroke cycle of the
gasoline engine and explain the “Yes sir.”
process of the mixture of air and fuel
inside the cylinder. Also, state the
function of the gasoline engine parts.
You will have 5 minutes to do the
task.”
“You will be graded according to this
rubric.”

Group 1

Directions: Create a diagram of four-

stroke cycle of the gasoline engine,
assuming that cylinder #4 will be
generating intake stroke. Also,
identify which valve will be going to
open or close.
