5 அதிகாரம்

1. அவர் திரளான ஜனங் களளக் கண்டு மளையின் மமை் ஏறினார்;

அவர் உட்கார்ந்தப ாழுது, அவருளடய சீஷர்கள் அவரிடத்திை்
வந்தார்கள் .
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his
disciples came unto him:

2. அ ்ப ாழுது அவர் தமது வாளயத் திறந்து அவர்களுக்கு

உ மதசித்துச் பசான் னது என் னபவன் றாை் :
And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

3. ஆவியிை் எளிளமயுள் ளவர்கள் ாக்கியவான் கள் ;

ரமைாகராஜ் யம் அவர்களுளடயது.
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4. துயர ் டுகிறவர்கள் ாக்கியவான் கள் ; அவர்கள்

ஆறுதைளடவார்கள் .
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5. சாந்தகுணமுள் ளவர்கள் ாக்கியவான் கள் ; அவர்கள் பூமிளயச்

சுதந்தரித்துக்பகாள் ளுவார்கள் .
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6. நீ தியின் மமை் சிதாகமுள் ளவர்கள் ாக்கியவான் கள் ; அவர்கள்

திரு ்தியளடவார்கள் .
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be
filled.

7. இரக்கமுள் ளவர்கள் ாக்கியவான் கள் ; அவர்கள் இரக்கம்

ப றுவார்கள் .
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8. இருதயத்திை் சுத்தமுள் ளவர்கள் ாக்கியவான் கள் ; அவர்கள்

மதவளனத் தரிசி ் ார்கள் .
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9. சமாதானம் ண்ணுகிறவர்கள் ாக்கியவான் கள் ; அவர்கள்

மதவனுளடய புத்திரர் என் ன ் டுவார்கள் .
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10. நீ தியினிமித்தம் துன் ் டுகிறவர்கள் ாக்கியவான் கள் ;

ரமைாகராஜ் யம் அவர்களுளடயது.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven.

11. என் னிமித்தம் உங் களள நிந்தித்துத் துன் ் டுத்தி, ைவித

தீளமயான பமாழிகளளயும் உங் கள் ம ரிை் ப ாய் யாய் ச்
பசாை் வார்களானாை் ாக்கியவான் களாயிரு ்பீர்கள் ;
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all
manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12. சந்மதாஷ ் ட்டு, களிகூருங் கள் ; ரமைாகத்திை் உங் கள் ைன்

மிகுதியாயிருக்கும் ; உங் களுக்கு முன் னிருந்த
தீர்க்கதரிசிகளளயும் அ ் டிமய துன் ் டுத்தினார்கமள.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted
they the prophets which were before you.

13. நீ ங் கள் பூமிக்கு உ ் ாயிருக்கிறீர்கள் ; உ ் ானது

சாரமற் று ்ம ானாை் , எதினாை் சாரமாக்க ் டும் ? பவளிமய
பகாட்ட ் டுவதற் கும் , மனுஷராை் மிதிக்க ் டுவதற் குமம ஒழிய
மவபறான் றுக்கும் உதவாது.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be
salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under
foot of men.

14. நீ ங் கள் உைகத்துக்கு பவளிச்சமாயிருக்கிறீர்கள் ;

மளையின் மமை் இருக்கிற ட்டணம் மளறந்திருக்கமாட்டாது.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15. விளக்ளகக் பகாளுத்தி மரக்காைாை் மூடிளவக்காமை் ,

விளக்குத் தண்டின் மமை் ளவ ் ார்கள் ; அ ்ப ாழுது அது
வீட்டிலுள் ள யாவருக்கும் பவளிச்சம் பகாடுக்கும் .
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it
giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16. இவ் விதமாய் , மனுஷர் உங் கள் நற் கிரிளயகளளக் கண்டு,

ரமைாகத்திலிருக்கிற உங் கள் பிதாளவ மகிளம ் டுத்தும் டி,
உங் கள் பவளிச்சம் அவர்கள் முன் ாக ் பிரகாசிக்கக்கடவது.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify
your Father which is in heaven.

17. நியாய ்பிரமாணத்ளதயானாலும்

தீர்க்கதரிசனங் களளயானாலும் அழிக்கிறதற் கு வந்மதன் என் று
எண்ணிக்பகாள் ளாமதயுங் கள் ; அழிக்கிறதற் கு அை் ை,
நிளறமவற் றுகிறதற் மக வந்மதன் .
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to
destroy, but to fulfil.
18. வானமும் பூமியும் ஒழிந்தும ானாலும் ,
நியாய ்பிரமாணத்திலுள் ளபதை் ைாம் நிளறமவறுமளவும் , அதிை்
ஒரு சிறு எழுத்தாகிலும் , ஒரு எழுத்தின் உறு ் ாகிலும்
ஒழிந்தும ாகாது என் று பமய் யாகமவ உங் களுக்குச்
பசாை் லுகிமறன் .
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no
wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19. ஆளகயாை் , இந்தக் கற் ளனகள் எை் ைாவற் றிலும்

சிறிதானபதான் ளறயாகிலும் மீறி, அவ் விதமாய் மனுஷருக்கு ்
ம ாதிக்கிறவன் ரமைாகராஜ் யத்திை் எை் ைாரிலும் சிறியவன்
என் ன ் டுவான் ; இளவகளளக் ளகக்பகாண்டு
ம ாதிக்கிறவமனா, ரமைாகராஜ் யத்திை் ப ரியவன்
என் ன ் டுவான் .
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach
men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do
and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20. மவத ாரகர் ரிமசயர் என் வர்களுளடய நீ தியிலும் உங் கள்

நீ தி அதிகமாயிராவிட்டாை் , ரமைாகராஜ் யத்திை்
பிரமவசிக்கமாட்டீர்கள் என் று உங் களுக்குச் பசாை் லுகிமறன் .
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of
the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21. பகாளை பசய் யாதிரு ் ாயாக என் தும் ,

பகாளைபசய் கிறவன் நியாயத்தீர் ் புக்கு ஏதுவாயிரு ் ான்
என் தும் , பூர்வத்தாருக்கு உளரக்க ் ட்டபதன் று
மகள் வி ் ட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள் .
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever
shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22. நான் உங் களுக்குச் பசாை் லுகிமறன் ; தன் சமகாதரளன

நியாயமிை் ைாமை் மகாபித்துக்பகாள் வன் நியாயத்தீர் ்புக்கு
ஏதுவாயிரு ் ான் ; தன் சமகாதரளன வீணபனன் று
பசாை் லுகிறவன் ஆமைாசளனச் சங் கத்தீர் ்புக்கு
ஏதுவாயிரு ் ான் ; மூடமன என் று பசாை் லுகிறவன்
எரிநரகத்திற் கு ஏதுவாயிரு ் ான் .
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be
in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in
danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell
fire.

23. ஆளகயாை் , நீ லிபீடத்தினிடத்திை் உன் காணிக்ளகளயச்

பசலுத்த வந்து, உன் ம ரிை் உன் சமகாதரனுக்குக் குளற
உண்படன் று அங் மக நிளனவு கூருவாயாகிை் ,
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother
hath ought against thee;

24. அங் மகதாமன லிபீடத்தின் முன் உன் காணிக்ளகளய

ளவத்துவிட்டு ் ம ாய் , முன் பு உன் சமகாதரமனாமட ஒ ்புரவாகி,
பின் பு வந்து உன் காணிக்ளகளயச் பசலுத்து.
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother,
and then come and offer thy gift.

25. எதிராளி உன் ளன நியாயாதி தியினிடத்திை்

ஒ ்புக்பகாடாமலும் , நியாயாதி தி உன் ளனச் மசவகனிடத்திை்
ஒ ்புக்பகாடாமலும் , நீ சிளறச்சாளையிை் ளவக்க ் டாமலும்
இருக்கும் டியாக, நீ உன் எதிராளிமயாடு வழியிை்
இருக்கும் ம ாமத சீக்கிரமாய் அவனுடமன நை் மனம் ப ாருந்து.
Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any
time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer,
and thou be cast into prison.

26. ப ாருந்தாவிட்டாை் , நீ ஒரு காசும் குளறவின் றிக் பகாடுத்துத்

தீர்க்குமட்டும் அவ் விடத்திலிருந்து புற ் டமாட்டாய் என் று,
பமய் யாகமவ உனக்குச் பசாை் லுகிமறன் .
Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the
uttermost farthing.

27. வி சாரஞ் பசய் யாதிரு ் ாயாக என் து பூர்வத்தாருக்கு

உளரக்க ் ட்டபதன் று மகள் வி ் ட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள் .
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28. நான் உங் களுக்குச் பசாை் லுகிமறன் ; ஒரு ஸ்திரீளய

இச்ளசமயாடு ார்க்கிற எவனும் தன் இருதயத்திை் அவமளாமட
வி சாரஞ் பசய் தாயிற் று.
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath
committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29. உன் வைது கண் உனக்கு இடறலுண்டாக்கினாை் , அளத ்

பிடுங் கி எறிந்து ம ாடு; உன் சரீரம் முழுவதும் நரகத்திை்
தள் ள ் டுவளத ் ார்க்கிலும் , உன் அவயவங் களிை் ஒன் று
பகட்டு ்ம ாவது உனக்கு நைமாயிருக்கும் .
And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable
for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be
cast into hell.

30. உன் வைது ளக உனக்கு இடறலுண்டாக்கினாை் , அளதத்

தறித்து எறிந்து ம ாடு; உன் சரீரம் முழுவதும் நரகத்திை்
தள் ள ் டுவளத ் ார்க்கிலும் , உன் அவயவங் களிை் ஒன் று
பகட்டு ்ம ாவது உனக்கு நைமாயிருக்கும் .
And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable
for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be
cast into hell.

31. தன் மளனவிளயத் தள் ளிவிடுகிற எவனும் , தள் ளுதற் சீட்ளட

அவளுக்கு பகாடுக்கக்கடவன் என் று உளரக்க ் ட்டது.
It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of
divorcement:

32. நான் உங் களுக்குச் பசாை் லுகிமறன் ; மவசித்தன

முகாந்தரத்தினாபைாழிய தன் மளனவிளயத் தள் ளிவிடுகிறவன் ,
அவளள வி சாரஞ் பசய் ய ் ண்ணுகிறவனாயிரு ் ான் ;
அ ் டித் தள் ளிவிட ் ட்டவளள விவாகம் ண்ணுகிறவனும்
வி சாரஞ் பசய் கிறவனாயிரு ் ான் .
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of
fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is
divorced committeth adultery.

33. அன் றியும் , ப ாய் யாளணயிடாமை் உன் ஆளணகளளக்

கர்த்தர் முன் னிளையாய் ச் பசலுத்துவாயாக என் று
பூர்வத்தாருக்கு உளரக்க ் ட்டபதன் று
மகள் வி ் ட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள் .
Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not
forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34. நான் உங் களுக்குச் பசாை் லுகிமறன் ரிச்மசதம்

சத்தியம் ண்ணமவண்டாம் ; வானத்தின் ம ரிை்
சத்தியம் ண்ணமவண்டாம் , அது மதவனுளடய சிங் காசனம் .
But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

35. பூமியின் ம ரிலும் சத்தியம் ண்ணமவண்டாம் , அது

அவருளடய ாத டி; எருசமைமின் ம ரிலும்
சத்தியம் ண்ணமவண்டாம் , அது மகாராஜாவினுளடய நகரம் .
Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the
great King.

36. உன் சிரசின் ம ரிலும் சத்தியம் ண்ணமவண்டாம் , அதின் ஒரு

மயிளரயாவது பவண்ளமயாக்கவும் கறு ் ாக்கவும் உன் னாை்
கூடாமத.
Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or
black.

37. உள் ளளத உள் ளபதன் றும் , இை் ைளத இை் ைபதன் றும்
பசாை் லுங் கள் ; இதற் கு மிஞ் சினது தீளமயினாை்
உண்டாயிருக்கும் .
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these
cometh of evil.
38. கண்ணுக்குக் கண், ை் லுக்கு ை் என் று உளரக்க ் ட்டளதக்
மகள் வி ் ட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள் .
Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39. நான் உங் களுக்குச் பசாை் லுகிமறன் ; தீளமமயாடு எதிர்த்து

நிற் கமவண்டாம் ; ஒருவன் உன் ளன வைது கன் னத்திை்
அளறந்தாை் , அவனுக்கு மறு கன் னத்ளதயும் திரு ்பிக் பகாடு.
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right
cheek, turn to him the other also.

40. உன் மனாடு வழக்காடி உன் வஸ்திரத்ளத

எடுத்துக்பகாள் ளமவண்டுபமன் றிருக்கிறவனுக்கு உன்
அங் கிளயயும் விட்டுவிடு.
And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy
cloak also.

41. ஒருவன் உன் ளன ஒரு ளமை் தூரம் வர ் ைவந்தம்

ண்ணினாை் , அவமனாடு இரண்டு ளமை் தூரம் ம ா.
And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42. உன் னிடத்திை் மகட்கிறவனுக்குக் பகாடு, உன் னிடத்திை் கடன்

வாங் க விரும் புகிறவனுக்கு முகங் மகாணாமத.
Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou
away.

43. உனக்கடுத்தவளனச் சிமநகித்து, உன் சத்துருளவ ்

ளக ் ாயாக என் று பசாை் ை ் ட்டளதக்
மகள் வி ் ட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள் .
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine
enemy.

44. நான் உங் களுக்குச் பசாை் லுகிமறன் , உங் கள் சத்துருக்களளச்

சிமநகியுங் கள் ; உங் களளச் சபிக்கிறவர்களள ஆசீர்வதியுங் கள் ;
உங் களள ் ளகக்கிறவர்களுக்கு நன் ளம பசய் யுங் கள் ;
உங் களள நிந்திக்கிறவர்களுக்காகவும் உங் களளத்
துன் ் டுத்துகிறவர்களுக்காகவும் பஜ ம் ண்ணுங் கள் .
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them
that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45. இ ் டிச் பசய் வதினாை் நீ ங் கள் ரமைாகத்திலிருக்கிற உங் கள்

பிதாவுக்கு புத்திரராயிரு ்பீர்கள் ; அவர் தீமயார் மமலும் நை் மைார்
மமலும் தமது சூரியளன உதிக்க ் ண்ணி, நீ தியுள் ளவர்கள்
மமலும் அநீ தியுள் ளவர்கள் மமலும் மளழளய ்
ப ய் ய ் ண்ணுகிறார்.
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun
to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46. உங் களளச் சிமநகிக்கிறவர்களளமய நீ ங் கள்

சிமநகி ்பீர்களானாை் , உங் களுக்கு ் ைன் என் ன? ஆயக்காரரும்
அ ் டிமய பசய் கிறார்கள் அை் ைவா?
For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans
the same?

47. உங் கள் சமகாதரளரமாத்திரம் வாழ் த்துவீர்களானாை் , நீ ங் கள்

விமசஷித்துச் பசய் கிறது என் ன? ஆயக்காரரும்
அ ் டிச்பசய் கிறார்களை் ைவா?
And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the
publicans so?

48. ஆளகயாை் , ரமைாகத்திலிருக்கிற உங் கள் பிதா பூரண

சற் குணராயிருக்கிறதும ாை, நீ ங் களும் பூரண
சற் குணராயிருக்கக்கடவீர்கள் .
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
