Drivers

Introduction

Device drivers allow your computer to access devices that are connected
to it. There are cases that when device drivers are not updated, they cause
your computer to go Blue Screen which is a type of error that prevents your
computer to work properly. To avoid this problem, just like the operating
system update, your device driver is automatically updated by your PC
whenever new updates are detected. However, if you want to manually update
a device driver, you have to follow the steps below.

At the end of this Guided Learning Activity Kit, you should be able to:

2. identify the different ways to install drivers; and
3. emphasize the importance of updating drivers.

Before we begin our lesson, let us check what you have already

Installing Windows Driver

When you perform a new install or upgrade, you should download the
latest software drivers from the manufacturer’s website for your computer
model. Important drivers include: Chipset, Video, Audio and Network
(Ethernet/Wireless). For laptops, make sure you download the latest Touch
Pad drivers. There are other drivers you will probably need, but you can often
download these through Windows Update after having a working Internet
connection setup.

Download drivers from the Manufacturer’s Website.

Drivers can normally be found in the Support Section from the

manufacturer’s website where you will find a Software and Drivers sub-
section. The method to find it will vary depending on the brand. You can go
to your favorite search engine then enter the following query “model and make
drivers download” (example: 'hp 8460p drivers download'). This will often
provide a direct link.

 Normally, you might not find native Windows 10 drivers. If this is the
case, use the latest Windows drivers available for your model. So, if they only
have Windows 7 drivers, try using those. Make sure you download the right
drivers for your architecture (32 or 64 bit).

 Again, the procedures will vary, but as long as you can find the drivers
and download section normally available within Support, you should be able
to get to the drivers. If you are reading this before upgrading, try having the
essential drivers in advance.

Install Drivers using Device Manager

If your driver was not detected or installed by Windows Update, you can
try installing the driver manually if you have a compatible version. Windows
10 and previous versions of Windows such as Windows 7 share the same
driver model, so it should work.

Press Windows key + X

Click Device Manager

Once device manager is open, select the device, right click, and click Update
Driver Software

This will launch the update driver software wizard, which presents two
options.

• Search automatically for updated driver software – it is possible that

Windows might have the driver software if you have not checked it yet. If it
is taking too long, then the next option is usually best.
• Browse my computer for driver software - if there is a compatible driver
and you already have the driver files, then all you need to do is point to it
and Windows will automatically install it for you.

Here I have selected using an existing driver. Browse to where the driver is
located on your computer, whether that is a partition, network share, thumb
drive or install disc.
Make sure the option to Include subfolders is checked. Click Next and
wait while the wizard completes the installation.

Installation of Missing Driver using Driver Pack
Solution

Driver Pack automatically selects and installs all drivers for free and
without limitation. We brought a new virtual Windows 10, and we will install
all its missing drivers by following the steps below:

Step 1.

You can download the offline installer driver pack online. Just click the
DriverPackSolution.exe inside the folder.

Step 2 The installer will scan your PC if there is a missing and outdated
driver.

Step 3 The installer will show how many drivers are missing and will
require you to upgrade to a newer version that can be installed.

Step 4. Click install and update to proceed on the installation.

Step 5. Click install drivers.

Step 6. After choosing install drivers click the start installation button.

Step 7. If the installation reached 100%, you may now restart your PC to
take effect.

resources with most essential learning competencies (MELCs)-based activities
anchored on the principles of guided learning and explicit instruction:

First, the Learning Resources (LR) Development Team composed of the

writers and graphic artists for devoting much of their time and exhausting
their best efforts to produce these indispensable learning kits used for the
implementation of learning delivery modalities.

Second, the content editors, language reviewers, and layout evaluators

making up the Division Quality Assurance Team (DQAT) for having carefully
evaluated all GLAKs to ensure quality and compliance to DepEd standards;

Third, the Provincial Government of Zambales, for unceasingly

extending its financial assistance to augment the funds for the printing of
these learning resources for use by learners and parents at home;

Fourth, the teacher-advisers and subject teachers, in close

coordination with the school heads, for their weekly distribution and retrieval
of the GLAKs and for their frequent monitoring of the learners’ progress
through various means; and

Finally, the parents and other home learning facilitators for giving the
learners the needed guidance and support for them to possibly accomplish
the tasks and for gradually helping them become independent learners.

To deliver learning continuity in this challenging circumstance would

not be possible without your collective effort and strong commitment to
serving our Zambaleño learners.
