English Commands
There are no special conjugations for
commands in English:

You (singular): Leave!


You (plural): Leave!
We: Let's leave!
Spanish Commands
There are five types of commands in
Spanish (both affirmative and negative):

tú vosotros
usted nosotros
ustedes
Affirmative Usted Commands
To tell one person (formally, respectfully)
to do something, use the subjunctive:

Hable.
Corra.
Repita.
Negative Usted Commands
To tell one person (formally, respectfully)
not to do something, add a no:

No hable.
No corra.
No repita.
Affirmative Ustedes Commands
To tell a group of people (formal in Spain)
to do something, use the subjunctive:

Hablen.
Corran.
Repitan.
Negative Ustedes Commands
Add a no to switch from affirmative to
negative:

No hablen.
No corran.
No repitan.

To tell one person (informally) to do

For negative tú commands, combine no
with the tú form subjunctive:

No hables.
No corras.
No repitas.

Use the subjunctive for affirmative
commands:

Hablemos.
Corramos.
Repitamos.

Add no for negative commands:

There is one irregular; use the indicative of
ir in the affirmative:

Vamos.
Stick with subjunctive for the negative:

No vayamos.

Vosotros Commands
To command an informal group (in Spain)
replace -r of the infinitive with -d:

Hablad.
Corred.
Repetid.

Use the subjunctive for negative
commands:

No habléis.
No corráis.
No repitáis.

Reflexive pronouns work the same way:

Drop -s and -d from nosotros and vosotros
conjugations before adding the pronoun:

Alegrémonos.
Alegraos.
No nos alegremos.
No os alegréis.
Practice: Make affirmative commands:
Tell me. (tú)
Wash your hands. (Uds.)
Sit down. (Ud.)
Be quiet. (Uds.)
Let's have fun. (nosotros)
