Project Title:
A proposed title of the project, succinct and clear as to the project undertaken.
Virtualization and its effect on corporate strategies and performance objectives of the
organizations. A case study of the general people’s committee for public security
libya.
Abstract/ Summary:
Please provide some background about the project, topic, company, situation and
overall summary as to the nature of problem and what is required (approx 500
words)
Virtualization means allowing multiple operating systems to run concurrently on a
single computer. It separates hardware from a single operating system. It is a modified
solution between centralized and decentralized deployment. Centralized serves are
expensive to purchase and to maintain. Decentralized applications are expensive and
it lowers the performance of machine leaving server idle 85% of the time.

Virtualization is a very vast area for academic research. This project will be an
attempt in order to investigate the actual business benefits achieved by corporations
through implementing in-house virtualization. The focus will be on how virtualization
can achieve the cost reduction as well as improvement in productivity and
performance of the business. There are many negative effects of virtualization if the
corporate strategies, performance objectives and corporate governance/information
security objectives are not comprised in the architectures designed by the solution
providers.
It has been observed that stake holders of the organization are very reluctant to accept
virtualization to host their business critical solutions due to absence of proven track
records and absence of empirical generalizations in the academic world.
The Libyan general people’s committee for public security system consist of different
department carrying out various functions and are also responsible for security in
Libya.
Such functions include vehicle registration system, driving Licenses system, fight
against drug trafficking, illegal immigration, robbery, car theft, burglary and fraud.
They are also responsible for the civil defence and police welfare. According to the
responsibility of the organization, they use various techniques in order to services the
citizens.

Objectives
List overall objectives of the project. These should be measurable and will be used in
part assessment in determining the level of achievement of the project. These should
reflect the Learning outcomes of the Module.
(Can be a breakdown of what you are trying to achieve and can be representative of
activities/ phases that are to be conducted in arriving at the project deliverables)
1. To investigate the performance of servers after hosting multiple operating
systems and applications and how they contributed towards the overall
performance of an organisation.
2. To investigate the possibility of Virtualizing IP multimedia solutions, fail
over, data organization, management and their effect on the performance of an
organisation.
3. To investigate the other attributes of virtualization like information security,
software delivery licensing, auditing and gained by businesses to increase their
performance.
4. To investigate the negative effects of virtualization if the corporate strategies,
performance objectives and corporate governance/information security
objectives are not included in the architectures designed by the solution
providers.
5. To investigate why the organisations are very reluctant to accept virtualization
to host their business critical solutions.
6. To analyse how Virtualization can be implemented in the organisations.
7. To analyse how the process of implementation of virtualization can be
improved
Project Outcomes:
Provide a list of key outcomes of the conducted project (can be deliverables/outputs
for each of the above objectives/ stages and these can be studies, reports,
requirements, plans, recommendations etc)
The expected outcomes of this project are:
1. Understanding of virtualisation concept.

using virtualization and making software and hardware for virtualization. In addition
will take the help from the internet, books, journals etc to collect credible information
regarding the virtualization concept.
