Let’s Travel around Angat

by: Andrea Areli J. Cortez

One of the most interesting places to visit in Bulacan is

the municipality of Angat. The town got its name after
the Tagalog word angat (A-ngat), meaning 'elevated' or 'a high
piece of land. This town has a lot to offer to its residents as
well as its tourists. It is significant that it has become a
destination for local and foreign guests.
In the heart of the town, a 400-year-old church is
located. The Sta. Monica Parish Church is one of the oldest
churches of the province. It is one of the most beautiful
churches in the Philippines. It displays a marvelous Baroque
architecture, and its interior replicated the famous Sistine
Chapel.
Another famous spot is the Rotary Park of Angat,
which is located in a higher place than Sta. Monica Church.
It can be found along the highway. It is famous for riders
and bikers looking for a comfortable place to stop over after
hours on their cycling route. Here, people can buy fresh
buko juice and eat delicious but cheap street foods such as
kwek-kwek and isaw. It offers a scenic view of the Angat
river.
Angat River is a long river that flows from Sierra Madre
range to Manila Bay. It can also be seen in another
picturesque pit stop which is Pugpog Biker’s Highlands Cafe.
It is a new al fresco coffee shop in Bulacan. It offers caffeinated
drinks and yummy all-day breakfast items like hotsilog,
longsilog, tapsilog, and daingsilog.

Last but not the least, GK Enchanted Farm is another

beautiful place to visit. It offers services such as Weekend
getaways, family outdoor bonding, barkada camping,
company CSR and team building. It has wide land area
where tourists can learn and appreciate farming through
explorer parties and camps. It has enchanted pond and
garden where tall and strong bamboos grow.
Right in Angat, there are numerous exciting places that
make Angateños proud.
