¿Qué es un adjetivo?

Adjetivo: parte de la oración que modifica o describe a un nombre o a un pronombre.

El adjetivo es una de las nueve partes de la oración.

Un adjetivo es una palabra que nos dice más sobre un sus tantivo. Describe o modifica a
un sustantivo (The big dog was hungry). En estos ejemplos, el adjetivo aparece en
negrita y el sustantivo al que modifica, en cursiva.

El adjetivo suele ir ANTES del sustantivo

 a green car
 a dark sky
 an interesting story

Y a veces un adjetivo va DESPUÉS de un verbo:

 My car is green.
 The sky became dark.
 His story seemed interesting.

Pero los adjetivos también pueden modificar a los pronombres (She is

beautiful). Fíjate en estos ejemplos:
 They were empty.
 I thought it seemed strange.
 Those are not expensive.
Observa que a menudo podemos utilizar dos o más adjetivos juntos
(a beautiful young French lady / it is black and white).

Forma del adjetivo

Algunos adjetivos tienen terminaciones particulares, por ejemplo:

 -able/-ible: washable, credible
 -ish/-like: childish, childlike
 -ful/-less: careful, careless
 -ous: dangerous, harmonious
 -y: dirty, pretty

Comparativo, superlativo
La mayoría de los adjetivos pueden ser comparativos o superlativos, por ejemplo

 big, bigger, biggest

 good, better, best
 beautiful, more beautiful, most beautiful

 Adjective and Noun Matching

Exercise
 Match the adjectives on the left with the nouns on the right.
For each question, write in the space ONLY the correct number to
match with the question number on the left. Example: if you think
the first question on the right goes with number 7 on the left, write
"7" in the first space.

Customer: Good morning, I have this prescription.
Pharmacist: Let me see. Okay, I think we have it. Let me get that for you...
