##CLOUD COMPUTING ASSIGNMENT 02 QUESTIONS SOLUTION

1. Describe the basic component of an IaaS-based solution for cloud

computing?
As mentioned, IaaS typically involves three key components: the servers,
network, and storage.
 For servers, the cloud provider is tasked with all of the
maintenance, updates, endpoint security, and management related
to keeping the cloud running at optimal levels. You can trust that
the infrastructure management you run on the remote cloud servers
is maintained properly. For companies with on-premise data
centers, you know that it often requires a full staff of operators to
install servers, keep them updated, and fix any problems.
 Storage is another key component and the classic (original)
definition of cloud computing. Most companies first realized the
benefits of the cloud when they started using web-based apps and
started relying on cloud storage, which means more “elastic” file
storage that can expand and contract to meet your demands and
company growth strategies. To end-user sin your company, cloud
storage appears to be infinite and always expanding.
 Infrastructure-as-a-Service also involves network monitoring and
management, and can also expand and change as needed for
your company. This can involve all of the network security features
you might need, the network management and throttling, and
maintenance.

2.) Provide some examples of IaaS implementation.

3.)What are the main characteristics of platform-as-a-service solution?

PaaS offers browser based development environment. It allows the developer

to create database and edit the application code either via Application
Programming Interface or point-and-click tools.

PaaS provides built-in security, scalability, and web service interfaces.

PaaS provides built-in tools for defining workflow, approval processes, and
business rules.

It is easy to integrate PaaS with other applications on the same platform.

PaaS also provides web services interfaces that allow us to connect the
applications outside the platform.
4.)What does the acronym SaaS mean? How does it relate to cloud
computing?
-Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is a way of delivering services and applications
over the Internet. Instead of installing and maintaining software, we simply
access
it via the Internet, freeing ourselves from the complex software and hardware
management. It removes the need to install and run applications on our own
computers or in the data centers eliminating the expenses of hardware as well as
software maintenance.
SaaS provides a complete software solution that you purchase on a pay-as-
yougo basis from a cloud service provider. Most SaaS applications can be run
directly
from a web browser without any downloads or installations required. The SaaS
applications are sometimes called Web-based software, on-demand software, or
hosted software.
5.) Classify various types of cloud ?
Public Cloud
Private Cloud
Hybrid Cloud
Community Cloud

1.) Public Cloud

Public cloud is open to all to store and access information via the Internet using the
pay-per-usage method.

In public cloud, computing resources are managed and operated by the Cloud
Service Provider (CSP).

Example: Amazon elastic compute cloud (EC2), IBM SmartCloud Enterprise,

Microsoft, Google App

2.) Private Cloud

Private cloud is also known as an internal cloud or corporate cloud. It is used by
organizations to build and manage their own data centers internally or by the third
party.

3.)Hybrid Cloud

Hybrid Cloud is a combination of the public cloud and the private cloud. we can say:

Hybrid Cloud = Public Cloud + Private Cloud

Eg:-Gmail, Google Apps, and Google Drive

4.) Community Cloud

Community cloud allows systems and services to be accessible by a group of several

organizations to share the information between the organization and a specific
community. It is owned, managed, and operated by one or more organizations in the
community, a third party, or a combination of them

Example: Health Care community cloud

6. List some of the challenges in cloud computing?

1. Data Security and Privacy

Security and Privacy of information is the biggest challenge to cloud
computing. Security and privacy issues can be overcome by employing
encryption, security hardware and security applications.
2. Cost Management
Paying for Unused resources are one of the other main reasons why the costs go up.
If you turn on the services or an instance of cloud and forget to turn it off during the
weekend or when there is no current use of it, it will increase the cost without even
using the resources.
3. Multi-Cloud Environments
Due to an increase in the options available to the companies, enterprises not only
use a single cloud but depend on multiple cloud service providers. Most of these
companies use hybrid cloud tactics and close to 84% are dependent on multiple
clouds. This often ends up being hindered and difficult to manage for the
infrastructure team.
4. Performance Challenges
Performance is an important factor while considering cloud-based solutions. If the
performance of the cloud is not satisfactory, it can drive away users and decrease
profits. Even a little latency while loading an app or a web page can result in a huge
drop in the percentage of users.
5. Interoperability and Flexibility
It means the application on one platform should be able to incorporate services from
the other platforms. It is made possible via web services, but developing such web
services is very complex

6. Lack of Knowledge and Expertise

Due to the complex nature and the high demand for research working with the cloud
often ends up being a highly tedious task. It requires immense knowledge and wide
expertise on the subject. Although there are a lot of professionals in the field they
need to constantly update themselves. Cloud computing is a highly paid job due to
the extensive gap between demand and supply. There are a lot of vacancies but very
few talented cloud engineers, developers, and professionals. Therefore, there is a
need for upskilling so these professionals can actively understand, manage and
develop cloud-based applications with minimum issues and maximum reliability.

7. Describe the major features of the Aneka Application Model ?

8. What is AWS? What types of services does it provide?

The full form of AWS is Amazon Web Services. It is a platform that offers
flexible, reliable, scalable, easy-to-use and, cost-effective cloud computing
solutions.

AWS is a comprehensive, easy to use computing platform offered Amazon.

The platform is developed with a combination of infrastructure as a service
(IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and packaged software as a service
(SaaS) offerings.

Services:-

1) AWS COMPUTE SERVICES

2) MIGRATION
3) SECURITY
4) STORAGE
5) NETWORKING
6) MESSEGING
7) DATABASE
8) MANAGEMENT TOOLS
9) ANALYTICS

9.)What Is Microsoft Azure in Cloud Computing?

There are many cloud computing platforms in the market, but Microsoft
Azure is one of the biggest. Microsoft Azure is the cloud platform of choice at
the enterprise level, used by 95 percent of Fortune 500 companies.
Microsoft Azure, formerly known as Windows Azure, was released in 2010 by
Microsoft as a public cloud services platform where users could build, test,
deploy, and manage their applications using Microsoft’s cloud-based data
centers. The servers that make up these data centers are scattered across 140
countries and growing. Through Azure, Microsoft offers a host of services on
different domains, such as Compute, Database, Content Delivery, and
Networking.

What Is Microsoft Azure Used For?
The solutions that enterprises can build on Microsoft Azure include:
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
Platform as a Service (PaaS)
Software as a Service (SaaS)
Azure is a quick, flexible, and—more importantly for enterprises—affordable
cloud platform.
