Monsoons

Study the illustration below showing the air pressure and directions of air in the different parts of
theworld. High pressure areas are marked (H) and low pressure areas (L).

1. Observe the direction of winds in the low pressure areas. Do winds blow towards the low
pressure area or away from it?
2. How about in high pressure areas? Do winds move towards the high pressure area or away
from it?
3. From what direction, do winds blow near the Philippines in the month of January?
