ANALYTICS REPORT

Value: 30% of the total assessments
Words: 5000 words (equivalent to 10 pages)

Objective
This assignment assesses the following learning outcomes:
CLO 3: Analyse a data set that is relevant to their field of study. (C4, PLO7)

Requirements
This is a group assignment. Form a group of a maximum of FOUR (4) students. Download
the given data set and perform basic descriptive analytics on it and produce an analytics
report.

Assessment Criteria
Please refer to the Assessment Guidelines, Peer Assessment Form, Assignment Feedback /
Marking Rubrics. Your assessment will be examined based on a complete working solution
and ability of using methods available in the learning materials. Use your own words or
examples whenever necessary to express your understanding and critical thinking.

Task
You have been given a data set which has been cleaned and adapted to make it easier for you
to perform the analysis. Discuss what kind of analysis you would like to perform on the data
set.

You are required to decide how you would like to analyse this data set by considering the
given categorical and numerical variables. You should filter the data, to only focus on skills
that are most relevant to your field of study.

You must perform the exploratory analysis and descriptive analytics to create FIVE (5) data
visualisations using the data set and provide analysis and interpretation of their visualisations.
As a group you should provide your conclusions.
Points to Note:
1. The submitted assignment should be type-written and formatted using Times New Roman
font of size 12 with 1.5 line spacing and page margins of 1 inch (or 2.5cm). Include
appropriate headings, sub-headings, page numbering, figure and table numbering, figure
and table captions, table of contents, etc. failing which will be penalised. Table captions
should be placed above the table itself while figure captions should be placed at the
bottom of the figure. The captions should be bold and aligned in the centre.

2. Attach the Assignment Cover Sheet, Assessment Guidelines, and the Assignment
Feedback / Marking Rubrics in your report duly completed where applicable.

3. All work submitted must be original. Cite the sources of materials used for the purpose of
your assignment. You will be penalised for non-referencing to the source material.

4. Additionally, students are required to submit:


a. The analysis output in R scripts.
b. The Turnitin Similarity Report.

5. Label all submitted documents with your Group Name. Use all capital letters.
a. For R Script(s), you are to
i. Include your group member Names and Student Numbers in the comments at the
beginning of each R script.
ii. Add an additional label to the script, if applicable. For example, your Group
Name is "PQR" and the R script is for the calculation of Covariance, then your
filename should be "PQR_COVARIANCE.R". iii. Comment throughout the
script to explain clearly the process.

6. Failure to compile with instructions will be PENALISED.

7. Wrong / Late / No submissions will be PENALISED.

2. Executive Summary (10 marks)


• You should write this last, as it is a high level summary of your entire report and
should not be more than one page. The executive summary should summarise the
contents of your report, including the conclusion that has been reached.

• Provide an introduction to the data set that has been given to you. You will need to
identify the variables and types of data that is available. You may need to perform
further exploration and research on the source of the data to understand its
context. This introduction should not be more than one page.

• Create five (5) visualisations.
• Provide analysis and interpretation of the visualisations.
• Use R plotting and exploratory analysis functions to analyse the data that you
have filtered individually, according to the objectives that you have decided upon
as a group.

6. Conclusion (15 marks)


• Integrate all the analysis and discuss whether you have achieved the objectives of
the analysis that was described in the beginning of the report.

• Include a reference list in APA format for any sources that you have referred to or
cited.
