COURSE DESCRIPTION
Mathematics of Investment is a course which primarily deals with money transaction
associated with interest and time. This course equips the students with mathematical tools
needed in the practical application of mathematical concepts in finance as well as to increase
students’ competence in the mathematical analysis and computations of financial problems
and stimulates them to look into situations that will enable wise planning and handling of
prospective earnings.

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

2. Solve financial problems involving simple interest, simple discounts, and compound interest,
correctly;
3. Apply the concepts of annuities in business transactions; and
4. Solve the problems on extinction f debts with the use of the amortization or sinking fund
method;
5. Develop critical thinking in making plans & decisions wisely and realize how important time is
in investment.

To pass this course, one must accumulate at least 60 points through the course requirements
