HUM 101 ART APPRECIATION

FINAL EXAMINATION

Name: Tabanao, Hannah Mae S.

Date and Time: May 23, 2023 / 3:30-4:30 pm

Test I.

Directions: Written below are questions associated with Da Vinci’s principles. Explain it in no less than
three sentences.

1. Curiosita

o How has your curiosity helped you in your life?

- Curiosity has been a motivating force in my life as an engineering
student. It has had a big impact on my academic path as well as
my personal progress. Curiosity feeds our need to explore and
comprehend our surroundings. It has pushed me to go above
what is taught in the classroom and explore deeper into my
technical disciplines. By searching out other materials,
participating in self-study, and asking questions, I've been able to
broaden and deepen my grasp of engineering ideas beyond the
curriculum. Curiosity fosters critical thinking and problem-solving
abilities. When confronted with a difficult engineering challenge,
my curious nature leads me to evaluate the subject from several
perspectives, investigate alternate solutions, and think outside the
box. I've been able to approach challenging engineering
challenges more successfully thanks to this mindset's contribution
to the development of my creative problem-solving skills. I've been
inspired by curiosity to pursue cutting-edge research, discover
new technologies, and keep up with changes in my profession.
Curiosity is essential for keeping ahead in the ever expanding
area of engineering. I've fostered my curiosity, which has led to a
lifetime passion of learning. Beyond the classroom, curiosity has
benefited my personal development. It has widened my horizons,
inspired me to accept different viewpoints, and nurtured
intellectual humility in me. I have great communication and
interpersonal skills thanks to my curiosity, which has helped me
work with classmates, authorities, and professionals from many
fields.
2. Dimostrazione

o How has your willingness to learn from your mistakes helped you in your
life?
- My ability to grow and progress has depended heavily on my
desire to learn from my failures. Making errors is a necessary
component of learning since engineering is a profession that
calls on accuracy, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
However, what really determines our success is how we
respond to those errors and absorb their lessons.
I've been able to develop a development mentality, first and
foremost, through accepting my faults. Failures don't bother me
because I see them as chances to get better rather than as
setbacks. I've been able to improve my knowledge and abilities by
reflecting on my errors, comprehending the fundamental causes
behind them, and proactively looking for answers. My desire to
take responsibility for my mistakes has also encouraged humility
and an open mind. Accepting criticism and embracing other
viewpoints has been made easier for me by realizing that I am not
perfect and that errors are opportunities for improvement. I
regularly seek out counsel from instructors, classmates, and
mentors because I value their perspectives and experiences. Not
only have my technical abilities increased as a result of this
collaborative mentality, but it has also broadened my horizons and
inspired me to experiment with new concepts and creative
solutions.

3. Sensazione

o How do you use your senses to experience the world around you?
- I rely on my senses to help me understand the world around
me. I can read the words printed on the blackboard or in books,
detect the vivid hues of my environment, and watch other
people's facial expressions and body language all thanks to my
sense of sight. I can participate in conversations with my
friends, pay close attention during lectures, and enjoy the lovely
melodies of music thanks to my hearing. I can perceive textures
with touch, such as the smoothness of a desk or the roughness
of a sheet of paper. During lunch breaks, I utilize my sense of
taste to appreciate various flavors and discern between sweet,
salty, and sour tastes. Last but not least, I can notice odors
thanks to my sense of smell, whether it be the perfume of
recently cut grass or the aroma of food being cooked in the
cafeteria. I have a rich, multimodal experience thanks to my
senses, which allows me to completely connect with the outside
world and improve my learning process.

4. Sfumato

o What are some ways that you embrace ambiguity, paradox, and
uncertainty in your life?
- I am aware that accepting ambiguity, contradiction, and
uncertainty may be difficult as well as fruitful. I approach fresh
viewpoints and ideas with an open mind. I accept the intricacy
of other points of view and attempt to comprehend them without
quickly discarding them rather than searching for clear
solutions. I aggressively pursue new information and
experiences while cultivating a feeling of curiosity. Accepting
ambiguity is being at ease with unresolved issues and viewing
them as chances to investigate and gain knowledge. I am
aware that resilience is necessary to deal with ambiguity and
uncertainty. I work to increase my resilience by learning how to
solve problems, taking lessons from mistakes, and looking for
the good even in difficult circumstances. The ability to embrace
inquiry, move outside of my comfort zone, and retain a flexible
and open-minded attitude to life's challenges are all necessary
components of the mentality that embraces ambiguity,
contradiction, and uncertainty.

5. Arte/Scienza

o What are some ways that you can continue to develop your whole brain
thinking?

- First, I may engage in a range of academic pursuits and investigate many

fields to train both my logical and artistic faculties. I can improve my
analytical and problem-solving skills while developing my imagination and
critical thinking skills by pushing myself to learn varied disciplines like
mathematics, physics, humanities, and the arts. To further widen my views
and enhance my brain's potential for adaptation and empathy, I may actively
seek out new experiences and expose myself to various cultures, ideas, and
viewpoints by travel, reading, or engaging in extracurricular activities.
Through regular practice and mastery of diverse cognitive exercises like
puzzles, brainteasers, and memory games, which may enhance my
cognitive flexibility, memory retention, and general mental agility, I can also
build whole brain thinking.

6. Corporalita

o What are some ways that you can continue to improve your physical health?
- There are several strategies to keep enhancing your physical well-
being. First and foremost, it's important to keep up a good and
balanced diet. Limit processed foods and sugary beverages while
increasing the amount of fruits, vegetables, healthy grains, and
lean proteins in your meals. Second, take part in regular exercise.
Find anything you want to do, whether it's dancing, swimming,
running, or playing a sport, and try to work out for at least 30
minutes most days of the week. Prioritize getting enough sleep as
well to give your body time to relax and heal. For the sake of your
physical health, aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night. Finally, stay
away from dangerous substances like tobacco, excessive alcohol,
and narcotics because they might impair your health.
7. Connessione

o How do you see the interconnectedness of all things and phenomena?

- I believe that a basic principle that governs how the universe

functions is the interconnection of all things and phenomena.
It implies that everything in the universe is related to one
another and has some sort of impact.
- The idea of systems thinking may be used to comprehend this
interconnection. Individual pieces or components can be seen
as portions of bigger systems that are made up of many
interconnected parts, according to the systems thinking
perspective. One component of a system's changes or actions
may have repercussions for other components of the system as
a whole. Understanding how all objects and phenomena are
related may have a significant impact on how we solve
problems and make decisions. In order to comprehend the
intricacies of the world, it highlights the importance of holistic
thinking and taking the whole picture into account.
Understanding and appreciating these linkages can help us
work toward more sustainable and well-balanced solutions to a
variety of problems and foster a better sense of accountability
for the health of the entire linked system.

Test II.

Directions: Explain the following statements below. (10 points each)

1. Art can help us to explore our own inner lives and to come to a deeper understanding of
ourselves.
- It's been known for a long time that art is a profound medium that
enables people to explore the depths of their inner selves and
develop a profound awareness of themselves. Artists have the
capacity to communicate complex emotions, thoughts, and
experiences via a variety of artistic mediums, including painting,
writing, music, and sculpture, which resonate with the viewers or
audience. This interplay between the person and the arts provides
a potent setting for introspection and self-reflection. Creating a
secure environment for emotional expression is one of the main
ways that art encourages self-exploration. People frequently
struggle to express their most profound feelings and experiences
through formal speech. However, art overcomes the constraints of
language and enables people to express their deepest emotions
through symbolic or metaphorical representations. In addition, art
acts as a mirror, reflecting our inner selves back to us. We
frequently recognize parts of ourselves in a work of art when we
see it and it speaks to us. This contemplation gives us the chance
to examine our own thoughts and actions and to reflect on our own
views, values, and identities. The world of art provides a portal for
the investigation of our inner selves, acting as a vehicle for us to set
off on a profound journey of self-discovery. Art is a haven where we
may retreat and get a better understanding of ourselves in a world
full of continual distractions and outside forces.

2. Art can help us to see the world in new ways and to appreciate beauty.

- First of all, art is remarkably capable of presenting the world from many
angles, enabling us to look beyond our own confined experiences. Artists
frequently go deep into their imaginations and put their dreams into
canvases or into musical compositions, giving us a window into their
worlds. By doing thus, they widen our horizons and reveal new spheres of
awareness. For instance, even if we have never directly experienced city
living, a picture of a bustling metropolis may transport us to the energetic
streets and conjure the feelings of urban life. Similar to this, literature may
transport us to a different culture or age and help us develop empathy
and understanding for many viewpoints. Our perspective changes as a
result of art, which also helps us develop a deeper appreciation for
beauty. It has the rare capacity to awaken our senses, alter our
viewpoints, and encourage us to see the beautiful in the commonplace.
Art allows us to transcend our daily world and discover new levels of
aesthetic experience through a variety of artistic mediums, including
paintings, sculptures, music, and literature.

3. Art can help us to find hope and inspiration in difficult times.

- When life is difficult and darkness appears to permeate every facet of our
existence, art emerges as a potent force that may inspire hope in us. In difficult
times throughout history, art has been a key source of inspiration and solace for
people. Art has the rare capacity to go into our souls and offer comfort at just
the right moment, whether it be via paintings, music, literature, or any other
form of expression. This article examines the significant role that art plays in
providing us with inspiration and hope throughout trying times. Art is a powerful
tool for conveying the depths of human emotions. Artists have channeled their
personal hardships during difficult times and turned them into pieces of art that
have a lasting impact on viewers. We may escape the harsh truths of life via art,
which has the capacity to take us to other worlds. Art provides a haven from
hardship, enabling people to briefly distance themselves from their problems.
Art provides a brief reprieve from the difficulties we confront, whether it is via
fascinating paintings, enticing melodies, or compelling stories.
- In trying times, art acts as a beacon of hope, illuminating our way and sparking
the flame of hope inside us. The capability of art to communicate emotions,
offer an escape from reality, and inspire resiliency makes it a valuable tool for
assisting people in overcoming obstacles. Art has the amazing ability to touch
our hearts and minds, reminding us of the beauty that exists even in the midst
of darkness, whether it be via the brushstrokes of a paintbrush, the melody of a
song, or the words on a page. Art serves as a monument to the resilience of the
human spirit in our darkest hours, giving us comfort, hope, and inspiration just
when we need it.
