    GAZING THE SKY

    Everyone likes sleeping on the terrace under the night sky with cool wind
    blowing above your face. We can see the stars, the planets, the planes
    flying above you; the white marble moon and the lucky ones can also the
    shooting stars. If you have good knowledge
    about stars you may also recognize the
    constellations above.

    We all sometimes try to count the


    number of stars in the sky. In the village
    areas we may find the night sky filled with
    stars, but this is not the case with the urban areas. There are barely a
    handful of stars visible there. Day by day the
    pollution is increasing in the urban areas. This does
    not let us enjoy and see the ocean of stars above us.
    Nowadays to see what all stars and planets are
    above us we need to use telescope or the apps that
    are made for this purpose. These apps let us know
    the names of the stars, constellations and planets
    and let us know their location. If you see a very
    bright star above, it need not be an actual star but a
    planet. You can identify whether that star is a
    planet or not by observing that it is twinkling or not. If it is twinkling then
    it is a star and if it isn’t then it is a planet. Other than these stars and
    planets we see the moon. It is always different at every night. Someday it
    is a big large ball; someday it is crescent and someday it is not visible at
    all. It looks like a mystery but it isn’t.
    It changes its phases as it revolves
    around the Earth. It also doesn’t have
    its own light! It reflects the light of
    the sun which is reason the changing
    of its phases. The sky itself does not
    have a constant color. When it’s
    morning, it is sky-blue; when it’s evening, it is orangish-yellow and when
    it’s night, it is blue-black! In the morning you see the bright sun which is
    the ultimate power for everything. You also see the
    clouds forming weird shapes. That’s just actually
    floating water which also causes rain. Even if it is
    raining down here, above the clouds it’s all clear.

    You don’t even know what’s up there. But


    after all gazing at the sky is a very satisfying and
    relaxing thing. The sky is a bag of imagination that lets you imagine
    what’s there in it.
