SIMPLE ROUTINE TASK

A. The definition
Simple Routine Task is an activity or piece of work which we have to do regularly.
B. The social function
It is to inform the readers about someone’s daily activity.

1) Using simple present tense
Subject + verb 1 + object + adverbs of time

Example:
 I usually woke up at … (insert the average hour you wake up here)
 I always eat breakfast / I typically skip breakfast …
 Next, I start to do my schoolwork /. Next, I generally attend my classes …
 After, I generally eat lunch / I never eat lunch …
 Then I go back home / I do my homework when I get back home …

Example:

I typically wake up at 8:30 AM. I try to wake up as soon as my alarm goes off, not to be late.
Then, I take a shower and dress. After I eat my breakfast, I leave the house for work. At
lunchtime, I usually go out with my coworkers to eat. When my shift is over, I come back home
and cook for dinner. After I eat dinner, I usually go for a walk. Next, I shower and go to bed.

Evelyn lives in Houston, Texas. She is eleven and studies at Theodore Roosevelt School.
She is in sixth grade. Every morning she gets up at 6:00 a.m., takes a shower, and has breakfast.
At noon, she usually has lunch with her mother. She is a housewife and a web designer too. She
designs nice websites. Her father is a mechanic. In the afternoon, she goes to school and she
comes back at 6:00 p.m. Then she does her homework, has dinner, and helps her mother wash
the dishes. She doesn’t watch TV on weekdays. She goes to bed at about 10:00 p.m. On
weekends, she usually plays with her friends, listens to music, and goes to the movies.
