a. the critical points of 𝑓;

b. the points at which 𝑓 has a relative maximum or minimum.

2. Find equations of the tangent and normal lines to 𝑦 = 𝑥 3 − 2𝑥 2 + 4 at (3, 5).

3. Find the points of inflection of 𝑦 = 3𝑥 4 − 10𝑥 3 − 12𝑥 2 + 12𝑥 − 7.

4. Solve for the first derivative of the following functions:
a. y = 2 𝑐𝑜𝑠(7𝑥)

b. y = 𝑠𝑖𝑛3 (2x)
c. y = tan (5x)

8. Find the dimensions of an open box of maximum volume that can be made by cutting squares from the
corners of an 8 𝑖𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑠×8 𝑖𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑠 cardboard and folding up the sides.

9. Divide the number of 120 into two parts such that the product P of one part and the square of the other is a
minimum.
