ABSTRACT

This study is about Smart mailbox technology that will facilitate community affairs
especially for people with disabilities nowadays. Without this Smart mailbox technology, those
with disabilities would have a hard time knowing when their mail or items have been delivered
to their home. It will also make it difficult for them to go out to the house every day to check
their mailboxes to find out if their mail or items will arrive. Therefore, with the creation of this
Smart mailbox technology, this technology will help these disabled people so that they are
more sensitive if there are their items in the mailbox. The research method used to make this
project a success is through a qualitative method, which is to collect reading materials and
references from the internet, journal articles and from all internet sources that can be reached.
The study found that this Smart mailbox technology is very helpful for people with disabilities
to be more sensitive and help facilitate their affairs in knowing their items that arrive in the
mailbox.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, there are various technologies that have made human life easier, but not so
many technologies that have been created can make things easier for people with disabilities
because most of the technologies that have been created only focus on those who are normal.
Most of the technology that is designed does not have facilities specifically provided for the
disabled. So, it is difficult for them to use the technology.

The purpose of this project is to create a smart mailbox. In this context, "smart" is
defined as the ability to notify the recipient that they have been received. The goal of this
product is to build a product that will prove that the concept is feasible and can be used in the
future, and the solution has been developed by changing the physical form to all walks of life
both for those who are perfect and also for those with disabilities.

This smart mailbox technology uses sensor technology that will be inserted in the
mailbox. A sensor is a detection device that can sense the measured information and can
convert the information into electrical signals or other forms of output information in
accordance with certain rules to achieve the functions of information transmission, processing,
storage, display, recording, and control. This sensor technology is the main component in the
creation of this smart mailbox.

The purpose of this sensor technology used in this project is that the sensor will be
placed in the mailbox and will detect all the incoming activities of letters and goods that will
be sent to the house. This smart mailbox technology will also be connected with a buzzer and
a light that helps give signals to the disabled. The buzzer will be used to who is disabled to see,
so that they can hear the sound from the buzzer. While the light will send a signal to those who
are disabled to hear where the light will flash when there is an item in the mailbox.

In conclusion, with this smart mailbox technology, it will make things easier for people
without having to check their mailbox every time because they are worried about missing
letters or important items. All notifications will be notified to them through the sound of a
buzzer and a flashing light that signals them.

2.0 PROBLEM STATEMENT

The more years, the more advanced the technology created by humans. All the basic
technologies that exist can help people to create other products to diversify them in the
application of their lives. Usually, every product created by humans must have a problem to be
solved. It is very rare that products created by humans do not have a purpose or are created
without solving any problems that occur. So, with the help of the products created, it can
facilitate and solve human difficulties in facing all the things that will be faced by them. An
example is the creation of a smart mailbox in solving human problems.

2.1 Humans often forget and will often miss important things.

Among the problems people will face if there is no smart mailbox product is that they
are less sensitive and will often miss important things such as their letters or items in their
mailboxes that are not yet equipped with the smart component. Usually, important letters or
bills will be placed in the mailbox and if they don't check their mailbox every day, there will
definitely be some important things that they overlook. If they ignore these things, then it will
bring them difficulties. In addition, the disabled are not exempt from this problem. They are
also often less sensitive to this because it becomes difficult for them to know if their mail or
goods arrive at their home. For example, those who have lost their vision, even if they can hear,
but it will make it difficult for them to go out of the house every day just to check their mailbox.
For those who are disabled to hear, although they can see, but they cannot hear if the courier
or courier delivers the goods to them. So, with the existence of this smart mailbox product, it
will help them to be more sensitive to what is happening around them.

2.2 Theft crimes can occur.

In addition, without this smart mailbox technology, the theft of the real owner's goods
can happen. Things like this can happen when they are too busy, have to leave the house for a
long period of time and if they don't realize that their mail or goods have arrived at their house.
Theft can happen without them realizing it because they don't know where their items are in
the mailbox. This will cause them to lose their goods which should be their right but taken by

others because they are not aware of the existence of their goods. So, with this smart mailbox,
will make them know the whereabouts of their goods with the signal that will be sent by this
mailbox through the sound of the buzzer and also the light that will be produced with sensor
technology.

2.3 Waste of time.

Using an old mailbox that is not yet equipped with this sensor technology will make
people waste their time. This happens when their mailbox is outside the house and will make
it difficult for them to check the mailbox every day when they are waiting for something
important. Without this smart mailbox technology, they will feel tired and frustrated when they
must do the same thing every day when waiting for the goods. So, with the help of a signal
from this smart mailbox, it will make it easier for them to pick up their goods on time without
having to waste time waiting and doing the same thing just to wait for the goods.

In conclusion, all products created by humans must have a function that is made so that
problem solving can occur. For example, a smart mailbox that was created to be able to solve
problems such as humans who are less sensitive and will miss important things, solve the
problem of theft if the item is in the mailbox for too long and can solve the problem of wasting
time if they open the mailbox for days to wait for items important.

3.0 PROBLEM SOLVING

As we know, the main problem of using mailbox is people always forget about the
mailbox in front of the house. so, when mailers send bills or related letters, they often ignore
or forget. therefore, the letters in the mailbox will be left for a long time and cause the letters
to be damaged and can also be lost without them knowing whether the letters are important or
not. To solve the problems mentioned above, we need to create a smart mailbox to make it
easier for people who have a mailbox at home to be more sensitive to the delivery of goods or
letters. The first is to install a sensor in the mailbox and connect it with a buzzer placed in the
house. in this way, at the same time, we can help people with disabilities such as blind or deaf
people and people who live in terraced houses and bungalows. in this way it can make it easier
for them to know the whereabouts and delivery time of the goods. Common people or blind
and deaf people, who live in terraces and bungalows, we can install the buzzer in the living
room of the house such as at the entrance so that the connected wire can connect the sensor and
the buzzer inside the house.

For the second problem, cases of theft can occur if the mailbox is still used in the old
way. This problem has been proven when many items are left by the courier or postman in the
letter box area, but they are picked up by other people. They take the opportunity to steal
because the goods are exposed and without the presence of the owner at home. Because of that,
a technology is needed to help the owner of the item know that the item or letter has been safely
delivered and then they can take action to pick it up immediately. With the creation of a smart
mailbox, a sensor will be attached to it to detect the delivered item or letter and a buzzer placed
in the house will sound indicating the presence of the item. This allows the owner of the item
to hear the buzzer sound and it can avoid them from a delay of picking up the item that has
been delivered in the smart mailbox. So, this solution can help them to ensure that the goods
are safe from theft.

As for the third problem, using a traditional mailbox will waste a person's time to check
the mailbox every day for fear of missing important letters or items that have been sent by the
courier or postman. This is proven when usually after returning from work they will check the
mailbox first before entering the house or they have to go out for a while just to check the
mailbox. This is worth it if the letter or item is there when they check it but if it is not it just
makes them tired. Therefore, technology is needed to help people to check the mailbox only

when necessary. With that, a smart mailbox equipped with sensor technology can give a signal
to the owner of the item that the item has arrived and is indeed already in the smart mailbox.
The sensor will connect with the buzzer in the house to make a sound indicating that they need
to check the smart mailbox on that time and immediately pick up the item. This can obviously
save their time by just going out from the house to pick up the item directly without having to
check the mailbox every day or guess whether the item that arrived belongs to them or the
neighbours next door.

4.0 NOVELTY AND INVENTIVENESS

Creative thinking will produce innovation in a creation, and it is also an important

component in thinking system that will help the development in our society. So, in order to
reveal the new ideas that can turn an ordinary mailbox into a smart mailbox, the merging of
creative thinking has taken place here, which will introduce new products and new methods
that will make it easier for a few people. This update focuses more on blind and deaf people,
but it can also be used by normal people.

The novelty of this product is because it uses a censor. This censor helps in sending and
receiving signals. The transmission of the signal starts when there is a parcel put into the
mailbox, and the reception of the signal will happen on the buzzer either it will sound, or the
light will blink. This censor will help connect the situation in terms of sending and receiving.
For example, in the mailbox the censor will detect that there is a parcel that has been placed
and will immediately give a signal to the buzzer.

Then the novelty of the thing in this creation is that the components placed in the Smart
Mailbox are Buzzer. Buzzer or usually referred to as an alarm signal, often found on some
electronic devices. In this era of modern technology, alarms are already available on several
electronic devices. Starting from a cell phone as well as a bell clock has a warning sign.
However, in this creation, buzzer is a support tool that will help in showing information
received.

Hence, the uniqueness of this creation is intertwined and helpful in connecting the
information, which can show the information received quickly if any parcel has entered the
mailbox.

5.0 USEFULNESS AND PRACTICALITY OF THE PRODUCT

5.1 USEFULNESS

5.1.1 Help people with hearing impaired person or deaf

This smart mailbox has many benefits and advantages to ordinary people, but
this smart mailbox gives benefits to people with hearing impairment or deaf people by
helping a hearing-impaired person to know when their things arrive on time in their
mailbox. This smart mailbox has a buzzer that will be blinking with flashing light when
their goods arrive. This will notify them without giving them hard time checking the
mailbox every time. This will make it easier for them. It helps them not to waste their
time. People with hearing impaired person or deaf will be appreciate that have device
that can make their live easier.

5.1.2 Help people with a visually impaired person or blind

This smart mailbox also helps people with visually impaired or blind. It helps
people with visually impaired or blind by sound. The buzzer will be sounded like an
alarm, that notifies the person that goods have been placed in the mailbox and arrive in
time. The buzzer has a different sound that makes people visually impaired or blind will
know and notice that this sound of their things arriving in their mailbox. It will be easier
for them because they cannot see properly and it will be convenient to them that they
will surely know that their things arrive.

5.1.3 Help the elderly and people with physical limitations

This smart mailbox also helps the elderly and people with physical limitations
to know when their goods arrive, elderly and people with physical limitations that live
alone will be having a hard time checking the goods and things in their mailbox because
of their limitations, they will be having a hard time waiting and will get tired easily if
they always checking. They do not have to wait for their important goods or letters
anxiously. It will also save their time and will not see their limitations as a burden. They

 also do not have to go out of the house to check important goods or letters in bad
weather. They just need to wait for the buzzer to notify them.

5.2 PRACTICALITY

5.2.1 Intelligible and cheap

This smart mailbox and buzzer are easy to understand for all ages. Even the
elderly can understand the instruction on how to know goods or things arrive in their
mailbox. And people will not have any reason not to buy the product because it does
not have any complicated instructions. It does not have any instructions other than
blinking and buzzing that notify that things have been placed in the mailbox. It does
not have to complicate things to do because it is not wireless that usually need to install
an app or Bluetooth.

5.2.2 Simple to install or effortless

This smart mailbox is also effortless, it does not need to install complicated
things, they just need to paste or hang the buzzer on the wall so that easy for people to
see. And we only need to put the sensor in the mailbox that has a wire that connects to
the buzzer in-house. They only need to set the buzzer whether they want it to be blinking
or alarm sound. And it does not need to screw, because it is already ready to install.
People that do not know how to install hard will have no problems when they buy it
because they do not have to call for a professional to install it.

5.2.3 Convenient or comfortable

This smart mailbox is also very convenient to all people, people with limitations
can use it and have advantages. It will make their lives easier. It is also comfortable to
use, it will not disturb for no reason, it only blinks and buzzes when only there are goods
and things, and will not be buzzing and blinking for too long which will annoy people.
It will notify again later when the owner does not aware. People will have no issue
when buying it because it is comfortable to use and will not annoy our lives instead
convenient to our life because it’s saving our time and energy. Moreover, it gives
facilities to people with special needs. And also make them looks independent.

6.0 MARKET POTENTIALS

Market potential can be linked to the effectiveness of a product being sold and
promoted. Usually, a product will have a target to whom they want to increase the profit level
of a sale. If the target that is imposed is the right target, then it will help in terms of a lot of
profit and the product will be bought by the targeted group. So, in order to ensure that the
potential of this market can enter a high level, it is necessary to plan the level of product
effectiveness and improve the product's weaknesses before starting to sell it in the world
market.

This smart mailbox product does not use items that are too expensive, because the price
that wants to be placed in the market is a cheap price for one unit. This is because the materials
for buzzer only use wires, censors and batteries. Mailbox is a material that is already available
at home and there is no need to buy it. The study of a product needs to be carried out, before
succeeding or creating the product. So, because that's the material that is chosen, material that
doesn't cost too much because, so that everyone can afford to have it.

Therefore, the market potential here is to focus more on the disabled group, that is, lack
of vision, which is blindness, and hearing which is deafness. This smart mailbox product was
created by reminding of all the interests that need to be emphasized to people like them. That
is why it was created by sounding a buzzer if the parcel has been received for the blind and the
buzzer will flash if the parcel has been received for the deaf. This product is fully focused on
them but can also be used by normal people. This product is produced to help them be more
sensitive and notice that the goods purchased by them have been received. Hence, the potential
of this market provides the main target for people with disabilities to make their lives easier.

Finally, it is hoped that the profit of this product is the result of the targeted group,
namely the disabled and the sales results can be further improved and expanded to the world
market to ensure that things like this can make their daily lives easier, because not many people
create products which targets people like them, then this product is produced to give full
attention to people with disabilities.

7.0 CONTRIBUTION TO UMMAH

Smart Mailbox have many contributions to Ummah. The first one is time saving for the
postman and the receiver which will save time for the consumers and help them track their
deliveries. sometimes the existing postman notification is not updated properly, so it makes it
difficult for users to know when their parcel and letter arrives. With the smart mailbox no more
unnecessary checking of your mailbox for important documents. it can increase comfort when
a consignment is being delivered. It is necessary to emphasize that all postal operators can
deliver mails into the smart mailbox, and they can get access to the information about their
deliveries. While it also makes it easier for the postman to send parcels and letters by simply
placing them in the smart mailbox without having to call and wait for the owner.

Secondly, it will control over your inbox, even when you are not present or during
longer absences the possibility to integrate mobile devices of neighbours or friends and have
urgent mail read out or forwarded for you. we are not always at home, sometimes we go back
to the village, work outstation and so on. Therefore, letters or parcels are sometimes left
unattended until they get wet from the rain and cause them to be damaged. It's even sadder
when the parcel/letter itself is lost and stolen. So, it will help you monitoring of collection times
and increase the security system which is helps user to be more alert with the presence bills or
letter and to solve the problem of unavailable recipient, losing or broken items during the
courier delivery service. For instance, letters could be used for very important documents,
where security can be a big concern.

Furthermore, the smart mailbox will help people with disabilities to know collect time
data on. It makes it easier for blind and deaf people to know that there is a letter or parcel
arriving at their house. sometimes if the postman comes to deliver a parcel or letter, deaf people
cannot hear if they call even if they ring the bell, while blind people cannot see where the parcel
is placed. then with the presence of a smart mailbox it will make it easier for deaf and blind
people to hear the buzzer and it is easy for them to pick up parcels or letters because they have
memorized where the mailbox is.

8.0 PRODUCT BRIEFING

Smart mailbox seems to be one of the best products you should have for your home.
This device not only makes your daily life easier, but also adds a layer of security. It includes
the most basic actions like checking your mailbox. This can make your work easier because
there is no need to manually check mail 3 to 4 times a day. By installing this smart mailbox, it
will alert you with a sound from a buzzer when you receive mail or a package.

Any type of input from the physical world can be detected by a sensor, which then
responds to it. You can enter data for a range of environmental events, including light, heat,
motion, moisture, and pressure. The output is often a signal that may be electronically sent
across a network to be read or put through additional processing or translated into a display
that can be read by humans at the sensor location.

While Figure 1 shows a small wireless motion sensor and battery power to attach inside
the mailbox. This sensor works when the mailbox is opened and there is movement. When
motion is detected, the transmitter will send a signal to the receiver which is the buzzer inside
your home. The size of this transmitter is not too big to fit on a mailbox and it should be
installed on the door of the mailbox.

Figure 2 shows a receiver (buzzer) connected to a sensor placed in the mailbox. This
receiver (buzzer) will work when the sensor gives a signal that the box is opened and there is
a delivered item. The buzzer will make a sound and emit a red-light flash as a sign of receiving
a response from the sensor.

This Wireless Mailbox Alert System is very affordable and suitable for placing in your
home. The measure is approximately 5.55 x 3.5 x 2.72 inches. Other than that, the advantage
is that it has important features needed in a mailbox alert system. In addition, it is not a problem
when you want to place the mailbox far from your door house, i.e., in the yard because the
receiver (buzzer) has a super coverage of almost 500 feet so that you will not miss any
information and get any connection interruptions. Even if there is a wall in between, the system
can pass and penetrate up to 5 walls. Therefore, you can put it in the living room, in the
bedroom, in the kitchen, or anywhere you want without thinking about the distance. It is very
suitable to be placed in the landed house.

Further advantages of this Wireless Mailbox Alert System sensor are powered by 2
AAA batteries. So, you don't need to reset the battery most of the time like others. The ultra-

expenses as it has low operating costs. By the receiver (buzzer) you will get 10 notifications
from the mailbox if there is any delivery. Thus, you will not miss the information. On the other

button to turn up the volume. While (V-) symbol is the button to turn down the volume. After
the receiver makes a sound and the red-light flash, you can also reset the buzzer to turn off it
