2016-2017
Introduction
In 1 961 , the founders of the company set up a new company: THE BELIER
FOUNDRIES AND WORKSHOPS to satisfy our customers' needsin order to answer the
inquiries of our customers. Today the BELIER FOUNDRIES and GALLAND belong to
“Le BELIER PARTICIPATION holding” owned by the Galland family.
In 1 987 Galland started to export its products with its first contract in China.
In 2003 the company moved to south west of France, close to Bordeaux, in a
brand new factory.
Since this date the strategy of Galland is to work in closest collaboration with
its partners and customers in order to share its 70 years of experience in the catenary
sector, helping them and developing specific and innovative solutions according to the
local specifications and needs.
Today Galland is working under the ISO 9001 certification ; employing
approximatly 45 people.

Application
Gas Tensioning Devices (AERO), without counterweight, are used to apply a constant mechanical load
in catenaries (contact wire et messenger wire, together or independently) according to the variation of
temperature in range defined in the specifications.
By analogy with a wheels tensioning device, we can make the following parallel:

Solid Conductor Rail
"Rigid Catenary"
Application
Solid Conductor Rail is mainly used today in tunnels, under bridges or maintenance workshop (with
retractable rigid catenary option) for special applications where encumbrance is reduced to limit the tunnel
cross sections which impacts direct the civil works budget.
Therefore S.C.R. is considered today as a cost saving solution for new railway electrification in
tunnels but also as a "low maintenance" solution.
Description
A Standard aluminium profile (11 0mm height version) offers an equivalent copper cross-section of
approx. 1 200 sq.mm which avoids installing additional feeders.
A No mechanical load applied on the contact wire comparing to tensioning device used with the flexible
catenary.
A Most of the projects realized with S.C.R. are speed limited to 90 km/h or 1 20 km/h maximum. The
main reason of that limitation is that S.C.R. solution doesn’t offer enough flexibility to absorb the
vibration due to high speed.
A The only possibility to increase the speed with S.C.R. will consist to recover the condition of
operations of high speed flexible networks, i.e. by implementing a half-rigid overhead catenary.
This is obtained through our resilient suspension which uses a spring to compensate the uplift
when train is operated with higher speed.
