The lesson plan discusses teaching students about the fire triangle and fire safety. It involves showing a video on creating fire to identify the fire triangle elements. Students will work in groups to analyze pictures of fire situations and identify the elements present and possible causes. They will then present their findings. The lesson aims to help students recognize fire triangle elements, analyze causes of fires, and learn proper procedures for fire incidents. Assessment questions will test students' understanding of the fire triangle, causes of fires, and importance of safety procedures. The teaching strategies actively engage students through group work, discussions, and real-world scenario analysis.

Lesson Plan in Physical Science

Quarter: 4, 2nd Semester

Grade 12 - Hera
May 18, 2023
TOPIC/LESSON Triangle of Fire
NAME
CONTENT Fire hazards and related
STANDARDS concepts:
1. Fire triangle
2. Causes of fires
3. Phases of a fire
emergency
PERFORMANCE The learners develop a family emergency preparedness plan to guide them on what to do
STANDARDS before, during, and after a fire incident.
LEARNING At the end of lesson the students should be able to…
COMPETENCIES/  Recognize elements of the fire triangle in different situations.
 Analyze the different causes of fires
Objectives  Observe precautionary measures and proper procedures in addressing a fire incident
MATERIALS Candle, Glass, Lighter, projector, laptop

PROCEDURE
Introduction
- Prayer
- Checking of Attendance
Motivation/Review

The teacher will:

 let the students watch the video about creating a fire. Ask the students what they have observe in
creating a fire and what they think the elements to create fire.
 The teacher will present the topic.
 The teacher will present the objectives.

Activity

Divide the class into groups of 4-5 students. Provide each group with a set of pictures depicting
various situations where fires may occur. Ask them to identify the elements of the fire triangle
present in each situation and discuss the possible causes of fire. Afterward, ask each group to present
their findings to the class.

Analysis
Students present their group outputs and answer the guide questions.
1. What causes the fire incident?
2. What are the elements of fire present in the fire incident?

 discussion on the different causes of fires

1. human error
2. equipment malfunction
3. natural causes.

Abstraction

Discuss the importance of observing precautionary measures and proper procedures in addressing a fire
incident.

Application
Provide the students with a real-life scenario and ask them to identify the elements of the fire triangle present
in the situation. Ask them to analyze the possible causes of fire and recommend precautionary measures and
proper procedures to address the fire incident.

Assessment
1. What are the three elements of the fire triangle?
2. What are the possible causes of fires?
3. Why is it important to observe precautionary measures and proper procedures in addressing a fire
incident?

Teaching Principles and Strategy used:

One teaching principle that is prevalent in this lesson is active learning and engagement. Throughout the
lesson, there are several activities and strategies implemented to actively involve the students in the learning
process. For example, the activity "I'm Falling for You" encourages students to express their opinions and
explanations using emoji cards. The POE strategy (Predict, Observe, Explain) also actively engages students in
making predictions, observing outcomes, and providing explanations. The group work, analysis, and discussion
activities further promote active participation and collaboration among students. By actively involving students
in the lesson, the teaching principle of active learning and engagement helps enhance their understanding,
critical thinking, and retention of the concepts being taught.
Constructivism emphasizes that learners actively construct their understanding of the world through their
experiences, interactions, and reflections. In this lesson, students are actively engaged in activities such as the
discussion of concepts, the group work activity, and the analysis and reflection tasks. These activities provide
opportunities for students to construct their understanding of the physics of motion by interacting with the
content, their peers, and the teacher.
Furthermore, the emphasis on historical development, critical thinking, and explanation aligns with the
constructivist approach. The gradual development of understanding, as mentioned in the lesson, recognizes
that knowledge is built upon previous ideas and evolves through critique and improvement. The use of the POE
strategy and the analysis of Aristotle and Galileo's ideas also encourage students to think critically and reflect
on their observations and explanations.

REFLECTION section
A. No. of learners who earned 80% on the formative assessment
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work, No. of learners who have caught up
with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these works?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can
help me solve?

Activity 1: “ I’m Falling for you”

Materials: (a) One coin; and (b) a piece of paper (may be a paper bill).

Procedure:
1. You are about to determine which of the two objects will fall faster, a coin or a paper bill. Complete
the table below by writing your prediction, observation, and explanation as you perform this activity.
2. Release the two objects simultaneously at the same height and determine which one fall faster.
Write your prediction first before doing the activity.
3. Repeat the activity but this time crumple the paper instead.

paper

Guide questions:
1. Which object fall faster. Why?
2. When you crumple the paper what happen to the rate of fall?
3. Does the mass of the object affects the rate of fall?
