WHO updates recommendations to guide family planning decisions.

HERE IS MELDRED CORNEL FOR THE DETAILS.

ANCHOR 1: the World Health Organization (WHO) released

important updates to its landmark Family Planning Handbook,
which provides health workers and policy makers with the most
current information on contraceptive options.

Drawing on lessons from recent outbreaks, this new edition

details tangible measures for frontline health workers to protect
access to family planning services during emergencies, such as
wider access to self-administered contraceptives and the use of
digital technologies by providers. It also expands guidance for
women and young people at high risk of HIV.

The updated Handbook was released at the International

Conference of Family Planning in Pattaya, Thailand. Support for
its production and dissemination has been provided through the
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the United
States Agency for International Development (USAID).

ANCHOR: POPCOM seeks broader law to address unplanned,

risky pregnancies RENZ ASUNCION HAS THIS REPORT.

ANCHOR: The Commission on Population and Development

(POPCOM) expects a more comprehensive Reproductive Health law
with the passage of a Senate bill that will ensure the health of
women throughout their pregnancy and during delivery.

POPCOM said the law must be strengthened to squarely address

concerns about unplanned and risky pregnancies, especially among
minors, which are deemed as primary causes of maternal deaths.

The DOH has vowed to boost primary care to address rising

maternal and newborn mortalities, emphasizing that advocating for
the primary care reform envisioned under the Universal Health Care
is the key to addressing maternal and newborn mortalities

ANCHOR 3: As part of the 48th Nutrition Month Celebration, the

Local Government Unit of Midsayap through the Municipal Social
Welfare and Development Office - Nutrition Section conducted the
Talakayan Series: Usapang Buntis to the top 5 Barangays with
the highest number of pregnant women namely: Lower
Katingawan, Nalin, Poblacion 3, Anonang and Arizona. A total of
139 pregnant women took part in the activity.

The activity also offered free health services to all pregnant

women like a dental check-up and dental care tips,
laboratory examination (hemoglobin determination, blood
typing, and urinalysis), and free eye checkups for the 1st
trimester & 2nd trimester.

The Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) Neren C. Villareal

discussed relevant topics on proper nutrition for pregnancy and
lactation and the importance of the First 1000 Days of life, she
emphasized that a mother's lifestyle and emotional state during
pregnancy have an impact on both her wellbeing and the growth
and nourishment of her developing fetus therefore nutritious diet
and good care for all mothers during pregnancy is a must.
