Deciles are the nine score points which divide a distribution into ten
equal parts.

The following formula is used in finding the deciles of grouped data

• To locate the position of Dk class

Below are the steps in solving problems involving quartile for grouped data:

Step 1: Find the position of the decile.

Step 2: Find the class interval where the Dk point is contained. Highlight
this in the table to illustrate the location of the Dk point.

Step 3: Identify the necessary values to be substituted in the formula.

Step 4: Solve for the value of the required decile.

Step 5: State your conclusion or interpretation

Step 1: Find the position of the 4th decile.

Given: N = 20 ( total number of frequency or total number of students)

This means that we need to find the class interval where the 8th point is
located.

Step 2: Find the class interval where the D4 point is contained.

divide a distribution into ten equal parts. 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%,
70%, 80% and 90% of the distribution fall below the 1st decile, 2nd decile,
3rd decile, 4th decile, 5th decile, 6th decile, 7th decile, 8th decile and 9th decile
respectively. Decile is one of the most important concepts of measures of
