HISTORY

ESTABLLSHMENT:-
This article is about the history of the fourth largest city in India.
For history of the Pakistani city with the same name, see
History of Hyderabad, Sindh.

Hyderabad is the capital of the Indian state of Telangana. It is a

historic city noted for its many monuments, temples, mosques
and bazaars. A multitude of influences has shaped the
character of the city in the last 400 years.[1]
The city of Hyderabad was founded by the Qutb
Shahi sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 CE. It was
built around the Charminar, which formed the centerpiece
of the city. Hyderabad became an important trading centre
for diamonds and pearls, and a centre for culture.[2]
After a brief period of Mughal rule, the first Nizam of
Hyderabad conquered the city in 1724. The Nizams later
signed a subsidiary alliance with the British, and their
territory became Hyderabad State, the largest princely
state in British India with the city of Hyderabad as its
capital. During this period, industry, railways, modern
education, and airways developed in Hyderabad.
After India's independence in 1947, the Nizam did not wish to
accede his state to the newly formed nation. By then, his
power had weakened due to the Telangana movement. The
Indian Army annexed Hyderabad in 1948. In 1956, the
Hyderabad State[note 1] was divided on the basis of linguistic
differences, and the city of Hyderabad became the capital of
Andhra Pradesh.

POST-INDEPENDENCE :-

The state was ruled from 1724 to 1857 by the Nizam, who was initially a
viceroy of the Mughal empire in the Deccan. Hyderabad gradually became
the first princely state to come under British
paramountcy signing a subsidiary alliance agreement. During British rule in
1901 the state had an average revenue of Rs. 417,000,000, making it the
wealthiest princely state in India.[11] The native inhabitants of Hyderabad
Deccan, regardless of ethnic origin, are called "Mulki" (countryman), a term
still used today. Subsequently, Mir Osman Ali Khan, the 7th Nizam, signed
an instrument of accession, joining India became the title of his position
"Nizam of Hyderabad". By the end of his rule, the Nizam had become
independent from the Mughals, and had founded the Asaf Jahi dynasty In
1795, the Nizam lost some of his own territories to the Marathas. The
territorial gains of the Nizam
from Mysore as an ally of the British were ceded to the British to meet
the cost of maintaining the British soldiers Hyderabad was a
212,000 km2 (82,000 sq mi) region in the Deccan, ruled by the head of the
Asaf Jahi dynasty, who had the title of Nizam and on whom was
bestowed the style of "His Exalted Highness" by the British. The last Nizam,
Mir Osman Ali Khan, was the world's richest man in the 1930s.

Golconda fort:-
Golconda Fort (Urdu: “round hill”),(Telugu Golla konda :
"shepherds' hill"), is a fortified citadel built by the Qutb
Shahi dynasty (c. 1512–1687), located in Hyderabad, Telangana,
India. Because of the vicinity of diamond mines,
especially Kollur Mine, Golconda flourished as a trade centre of
large diamonds, known as the Golconda Diamonds. The region
has produced some of the world's most famous diamonds,
including the colourless Koh-i-Noor (now owned by the United
Kingdom), the blue Hope (United States), the pink Daria-i-
Noor (Iran), the white Regent (France), the
Dresden Green (Germany), and the
colourless Orlov (Russia), Nizam and Jacob (India), as well as the
now lost diamonds Florentine Yellow, Akbar Shah and Great
Mogul. It was initially called Shepherd’s Hill (Golla Konda in
Telugu). According to legend, a shepherd boy came across an
idol on this rocky hill.[citation needed] The information was
conveyed to the ruling Kakatiya king, who constructed a mud
fort around this holy spot. After 200 years, Bahamani rulers took
possession of the fort. Under the Bahmani Sultanate, Golconda
slowly rose to prominence. Sultan Quli Qutb-ul-Mulk (r. 1487–
1543), sent by the Bahmanids as a governor at Golconda,
established the city as the seat of his government around 1501.

HOUSEKEEPING
HOUSEKEEPING
Housekeeping refers to the management of duties and
chores involved in the running of a household, such as
cleaning, cooking, home maintenance, shopping, and bill
payment. These tasks may be performed by members of the
household, or by other persons hired for the purpose. This is
a more broad role than a cleaner, who is focussed only on the
cleaning aspect.[1] The term is also used to refer to the
money allocated for such use.[2] By extension, it may also
refer to an office or organization, as well as the maintenance
of computer storage systems.[3]

A housekeeper is a person employed to manage a household[4]

and the domestic staff. According to the 1861 Victorian era Mrs.
Beeton's Book of Household Management, the housekeeper is
second in command in the house and "except in large
establishments, where there is a house steward, the
housekeeper must consider his/herself as the immediate
representative of her mistress".

FRONT OFFICE :
FRONT OFFICE
Every multi-departmental physical business needs to have a
front office or reception to receive the visitors. Front Office
Department is the face and as well as the voice of a business.
Regardless of the star rating of the hotel or the hotel type,
the hotel has a front office as its most visible department.
For a business such as hospitality, the front office
department comes with an aspect of elevating customer
experience with the business.

Front Office department is a common link

between the customers and the business. Let us
learn more about it.

What is Front Office Department?

It is the one of the many departments of the hotel business

which directly interacts with the customers when they first
arrive at the hotel. The staff of this department is very visible to
the guests.

Front office staff handles the transactions between the hotel

and its guests. The staff receives the guests, handles their
requests, and strikes the first impression about the hotel into
their minds.
Creating guest database
Handling guest accounts
Coordinating guest service
Trying to sell a service
Ensuring guest satisfaction

Handling in-house communication through PBX

FRONT OFFICE OPERATION

There are two categories of Front Office Operations −

Front-House Operations

These operations are visible to the guests of the hotel.

The guests can interact and see these operations, hence,
the name Front-House operations. Few of these
operations include −

Interacting with the guests to handle request

for an accommodation.

Checking accommodation availability and assigning it to

the guest.
Collecting detail information while guest registration.
Creating a guest’s account with the FO accounting system.
Issuing accommodation keys to the guest.
Settling guest payment at the time of check-
out. Back-House Operations

Front Office staff conducts these operations in the absence

of the guests or when the guest’s involvement is not
required. These operations involve activities such as −

Determining the type of guest (fresh/repeat) by

checking the database.

Ensuring preferences of the guest to give a personal touch

to the service.
Maintaining guest’s account with the accounting
system. Preparing the guest’s bill.
Collecting the balance amount of guest bills.
Generating reports.
Guest Cycle in Hotel

Generally, a guest’s interaction with the hotel is divided

into the following four sequential phases −

Pre-arrival
It is the stage when the customer is planning to avail an
accommodation in the hotel. In this first stage, the customer or
the prospective guest enquires about the availability of the
desired type of accommodation and its amenities via
telephonic call or an e-mail. The customer also tries to find out
more information about the hotel by visiting its website.

At the hotel end, the front office accounting system captures

the guest’s information such as name, age, contact numbers,
probable duration of stay for room reservation and so on.
