1. Introduction of the Topic


Students will complete a brief "word search" exercise that the instructor will provide by looking for the
words inside the box and filling in the lines that are provided. This activity's goals are to help the students
hone their active observation techniques and give them an idea of today's topic.

FIRM-UP
(20 minutes)

A game called "Pass the Box" will be played by the class, in which questions are placed inside the box.
To play this game activity, students will be tasked with singing a song given by their instructor. As the
song goes along, the box will continue to be passed from one person to another. However, when the
teacher says stop, whoever has the box will take one rolled piece of paper out of the box and answer
the written question.

Questions to be answered:
1. Why is it essential to have a purpose in mind before writing?
2. How does mastering the art of effective writing according to purpose benefit you as a
student?
3. Think about a world without effective writing instruction. What could possibly happen?
4. Will there be a chance that individuals can still understand one another even if they do not
have a knowledge about effective writing?
5. Do you believe you can effectively communicate your thoughts or ideas if the purpose of
your writing conflicts with the paragraph style you've chosen?

The instructor emphasizes how crucial it is to study the different types of paragraphs as well as how to
write an effective one. Information, whether spoken or written, enables communication between people.
This also affects how we perceive the environment we live in. Effective communication skills can help
one build better relationships at work, home, and in social situations.

Each student is assigned a different type of paragraph writing with a topic to discuss. (Min. of 3
paragraphs).
