Instructions For Creating Custom Profiles PDF

This document provides instructions for creating custom color profiles in Adobe Lightroom Classic to enhance color edits. It outlines 7 steps to develop an edit using tone and color adjustments, then create a profile without including calibration, white balance or exposure settings. Adobe Lightroom Classic: Advanced Work ow & Tips for Enhancing Your Color Edits

Instructions for Creating Custom Pro les

1. Open Adobe Camera Raw.
2. Using a correctly exposed RAW photograph, develop your edit using the Tone sliders, Tone Curve,
HSL and Colour Grading panels.

Note: Calibration cannot be saved in pro les and it is not available in Adobe Lightroom, so avoid making
changes using Calibration, otherwise your pro le might not function correctly.

3. Avoid making changes to the White Balance and Exposure se ings, so that your pro le can be
applied to a range of di erent images. I’d also recommend against making changing to the Texture,
Clarity & Dehaze se ings for the same reason.

4.When ready with your edit, go to the Presets panel and

Alt/Option+click on the New Preset bu on to open the
Create Pro le dialog window.

5.Check Basic, Parametric Curve (if adjusted), Point

Curve, HSL and Colour Grading, and keep everything
else unchecked, including Look Table, Colour Lookup
Table and Camera Pro le (see se ings on the screenshot).

6.Set Tone Map Strength to Low (Normal).

7.Name your pro le and select a group where you

want to save it.

8.Click Ok.

A er saving, your pro le will be available via the Pro le Browser both in Adobe Camera Raw and in
Adobe Lightroom Classic, as they share the same se ings. To use your pro les in Adobe Lightroom,
you’ll need to import them manually.

Note: By default, pro les are saved in Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/

CameraRaw/Se ings (Mac) or in Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/CameraRaw/Se ings (Windows)
and loaded from there by both Adobe Camera raw and Adobe Lightroom Classic.

Pro les are saved as XMP les, and you can import them individually or put them into a ZIP archive as a
group and import them together.

To import your pro les into Adobe Lightroom (as well as into Adobe Lightroom Classic or Adobe
Camera Raw if working on a di erent device), click on the Pro le Browser bu on and select Import
Pro les & Presets… and select your desired XPM le or ZIP archive.
