1. Install SurveyCTO
Desktop
Go to

install SurveyCTO Desktop.

2. Get started

Open SurveyCTO Desktop,


and click CREATE YOUR
FIRST WORKSPACE to get
started.

3. Name workspace

Give your workspace a


name. It can be anything,
but we recommend
something related to your
project.

4. Select local
storage location
Select the location where
SurveyCTO will keep a local
copy of your data. (Tip on
next slide)

Tip: Set local


storage to user folder
Local storage is different than the
export location where CSV files will
be generated. By default, it will be in
the "SurveyCTO Desktop Local
Storage" folder in your main user
folder, which SurveyCTO Desktop will
create for you.

5. Create workspace

Click CREATE NEW


WORKSPACE when you are
ready.

6. Select Sync
In SurveyCTO Desktop, click Sync in the upper-left.

7. Choose your server

Click LOG IN TO A NEW


SERVER.
If your server is already listed,
select that server.

8. Enter server info

Enter the server name (this is what
is before .surveycto.com in the
URL you use to access the server
console), and your login email 2
address.
Then click Next.

Tip: External viewers


If you are an external viewer (meaning you only have access to that form's
data, and nothing else on the server), select I am an external viewer. Check
out our documentation to learn more.

9. Enter password

Enter your password, then click
LOG IN.

Tip: External
authentication
If you are a user who is externally
authenticated (usually using
Google), sign into that account
when prompted.

10. Select data

where you would like to export
your data to. Then, click
CONTINUE.

Tip: Select private key

If your data is encrypted, click


BROWSE FOR KEY FILE, and
select the private key file that can
decrypt your data.

11. Select forms to sync

Select the form(s) you would like


to download the data for, then 1
click CONTINUE.

12. Run the export

Click RUN NOW to begin the


data export. This may take some
time.

Tip: Leave SurveyCTO Desktop


running in focus. Go have some
tea!

It will say COMPLETED when


the export is complete.

Tip: Watch for errors


Check in every so often to make sure SurveyCTO Desktop is running
smoothly. If there are issues, click VIEW DETAILS, and check the logs. If you
need to reach out to SurveyCTO support, send those sync logs. Also, on the
menu bar at the top, click SurveyCTO Desktop > Show log files, and send
those files as well.

Export complete

A CSV file will be created in the


location you selected in step
10, as well as a PDF export
report. If any submissions have
attachments, they will be in the
media folder.

Tip: Check out


other export options
In SurveyCTO Desktop, click
Workspace settings in the
lower-left, then click
EXPORT OPTIONS on the
top. There, you can change
various export settings.
