"My philosophy of education is that all children are unique and must have a stimulating

educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It

is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential. I will

provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks.

I believe that respectful, caring bonds with children and their families are a vital foundation

for a successful early childhood experience for all students. I believe that parents are the child’s

most important teachers and advocators. I believe that the children’s families are the most

important aspect for the students because they are their child's first teachers. I believe that

children can learn through play, interacting with others, their experiences, and hands-on learning

activities. I strive to have the utmost respect and love for all the children I teach.

I believe creating a community in the classroom environment is the beginning of setting

the children up for academically and socially successful development. I have age-appropriate

resources available everywhere in the classroom and at each child’s access. I have areas set up in

the classroom where the children have a variety of equipment to explore. All the equipment in

my room is age-appropriate, at their level, and always accessible to the students throughout the

day. I like to add new things to areas to help enhance their everyday learning. Throughout my

classroom, I have pictures of the children using a variety of equipment and pictures that reflect

the cultures and diversity of people in our world. I believe that children should be able to depend

on their classroom community by offering consistency of guidance and a schedule of routines.

By doing this, I can provide the feeling of safety that is associated with predictability for the

children’s needs and expectations.

What I strive to achieve as an early childhood educator is not only to help children learn

fundamental skills but getting them excited to explore new things and learn through interactive

activities giving them a lifelong love of learning. I try to engage students through fun and

exciting activities because I believe that if children aren’t having fun, then they are not learning

to their greatest potential. It is my job to help them find their path by giving them opportunities

that fit their individual abilities. With every opportunity I provide, I try to keep the interests of

the children ahead of everything else.

I believe in having clear expectations for all my students. I also believe in teaching and

applying consistent standards. I believe that having open communication with parents and or

guardians and having their involvement in my classroom is very important. I do this by greeting

my families at drop off and pick up, through daily reports, take-home vines, monthly newsletters,

courtesy calls, and parent-teacher conferences. I believe in linking learning to students’ real-life

experiences. I challenge each student individually, and academically according to his or her

potential. I believe that each student should be valued and respected as unique individuals. I will

try to be the best person I can be for the children that I work with and model appropriate

behaviors not only with the child but the families and my colleagues as well. I will make sure I

am knowledgeable about current issues and trends in all early childhood education and other

areas that affect those in early childhood education. I take the role of the teacher seriously to

educate children about the unknown world.

My overall goal is to focus on the individual needs and potential of each of the students as

well as their emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development. I will guide

creativity, encourage innovative thinking, acknowledge perseverance, celebrate success, turn

frustration into learning opportunities, awaken social responsibility, and model fairness and

justice, all while building and valuing relationships between myself and the students. I want to be

a strong role model for the children in my care. I will model these values for the children by

cultivating learning, honesty, compassion, and integrity in my educational community. I will

create a trusting and safe atmosphere for students to explore, question, practice, make mistakes,

create, and imagine. By embracing a set of ethical values, I commit to communicating honestly

and compassionately. Lastly, I rely on partnerships with my student’s parents and/or guardians to

enrich the understanding of the students.

Our curriculum is structured. Its flexible framework encourages children to make

choices, and our teachers support the learning created by those choices. This approach allows

children to develop confidence and a sense of security while experimenting with new ideas.

Through exploration and discovery, each child receives ample opportunity to develop his or her

natural curiosity and creativity. With the guidance of caring teachers, these "learning" moments

help cultivate lasting understanding and are key to transforming discoveries into a lifelong love

of learning and academic success. The designed learning environment strengthens initiative and

self-reliance in young people while supporting clearly defined and unique learning areas. We

follow a daily routine that allows children to engage individually or in groups. Through the

curriculum we use we provide unique learning areas designed to stimulate, we provide daily

routines allowing children to freely explore, we use anecdotal recording keeping allowing the

children to grow and develop at their own pace and lastly, we empower the children to explore

and self-manage through positive learning choices.

By using daily anecdotal record keeping (authentic assessments) I have the necessary

tools to evaluate each child’s growth and prepare activities to engage and empower decision-

making thought and nurture problem-solving abilities. These learning moments are reflected in

our COR program which not only allows our teachers to record each student’s progression, but it

also provides the administration with a clear picture of what each teacher has been working on

with their students during class time.

We observe our staff by implementing monthly observations that touch on the areas of

the room and learning activities that are displayed, curriculum implementation, and child

observations. We provide professional development days twice a year, monthly staff meetings,

quarterly performance reviews, and coaching/ mentoring for all staff. The purpose of the training

and observations is to assist all those who are committed to providing quality education and care.

I choose this curriculum approach because of it is a flexible framework that encourages children

to make choices, and our teachers support the learning created by those choices.
