Non-adjustable wrench set (5-10 pieces) is useful when you are working on
a large project continuously without the hassle of adjusting them every time.
But, an adjustable wrench set (2 pieces) is perfect for simple home DIY
projects where you need to do precise operations.
Make sure that you buy a heavy-duty wrench set made of heat-treated,
forged carbon steel. Moreover, a non-slip handle will provide additional grip
while a chrome-plated wrench will remain rust-free. Overall, a wrench set is
very versatile and you should have this tool.

INFORMATION SHEET No. 5.2-1
Hand tools and it’s specification
Learning Objective:
After reading this INFORMATION SHEET, YOU MUST be able to:
Identify specific hand tools
INTRODUCTION
Hand tools are manually-operated tools that fit in the hand. They are used
in many industries and applications to assemble, install, repair and
maintain such items as machines, products, structures, components and
equipment.
liers have two jaws and are designed to grip objects by using leverage.
Calipers measure the distance between two symmetrically-opposing
sides.
Screwdrivers are devices that fit into the head of a screw to drive the
screw into the object to be fastened.
Wrenches are used to tighten or loosen nuts and bolts.
Hammers are hand tools that deliver repeated blows to an object. For
example, a hammer is used to drive a nail into wood.
Specialty Tools
For every basic type of hand tool, many specialized varieties are available.
For example, a standard wrench has two fixed jaws, but an adjustable pipe
wrench has two serrated, movable jaws for gripping and turning a pipe. A
standard hammer can be made from a common metal such as chrome, but
titanium may be added to provide extra strength.

weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually. Companies that invest in routine
maintenance can extend the life of their assets, reduce emergency
maintenance, and keep their production lines or facilities up and running
more consistently.
Routine maintenance is a type of preventive maintenance and also a key
part of total productive maintenance in which machine operators perform
small maintenance tasks to increase the reliability of the machines they use
every day.
