Detailed Lesson Plan in EIM

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:

a. Recognize the different types of electrical supplies and materials

b. Discuss the uses and function of electrical supplies and materials
c. Give the importance of knowing the electrical supplies and materials

II. Subject matter

Topic: Electrical Supplies and Materials
Reference: Technology and Livelihood Education Learning module
Materials: Visual aids, actual illustration of the different types of Electrical Supplies and
materials

III. Procedure

Teacher’s Student’s
Activity Activity
A. Preliminary

activities Good -Good afternoon sir!

afternoon class
(students will raise their hands and will say
(Checking of the attendance) present as the teacher calls their name)
Raise your hand and say present once I call
your name. -We are fine sir. Thank you.
-Very much sir!
How are you today?
So are you ready class for our

discussion? Very good.

B. Motivation

Alright class, before we start our discussion let

us have an activity. There are jumbled letters
written on the board, you will have to arrange
the jumbled letters to form the correct words.
So I need five volunteers to come in front. (The students will raise their hand and perform
the activity)
Who wants to volunteer? 1. SWITCH
2. PLUG
1. CTWIHS 3. FUES
2. LUGP 4. OUTLET
3. SUEF 5. WIRE
4. TUOTEL
5. REIW

Ok very good! (Expected answers)

According to the words you arrange. What do -Electrical Materials
you think are those? -Electrical supplies

Ok very good!
Electrical supplies and materials are our topic
for today.

C. Discussion
Electrical materials are developed and
constructed for a special purpose such as to
control the flow of electrical current and protect
the houses, building, appliances and
instruments from the destruction and damage.

Alright class, what are the most commonly used

electrical materials? (Expected Answers)
-Switch
-Outlet
-Junction Box
-Fuse
-Circuit breaker
-Plug
Ok very good!
Here are the other types of electrical supplies
and materials.

1. Convenience Outlet- -is a device that acts as a convenient source of

electrical energy for current consuming
appliances.
2. Male plug
-is a device inserted to a convenience outlet to
conduct electrical current.
3. Lamp holder
- is a device that holds and protects the lamp
and is also called “lamp sockets/
4. Switch receptacles”.

- is a device that connects and

5. junction Box disconnects the flow of electric current in a
circuit.

6. Utility box - is an octagonal shaped electrical material

where the connection or joints wires where
being done.
7. Flat cordx
- is a rectangular shaped metallic or plastic
(PVC) material where flush type convenience
outlet and switches are attached.
8. Fuse/circuit breaker - is a rectangular shaped metallic or plastic
(PVC) material where flush type convenience
outlet and switches are attached.

9. Connectors - a circuit protective device that automatically

blows and cut the flow of current when
overload or short circuit happens.
10. Clamps
- used to attached metallic or non-metallic
conduit to the junction or utility boxes.
11. Electrical wire/Conductors
a. Stranded wire - electrical materials use to hold and
anchor electrical conduits in its proper
b. Solid wire position.

12. conduits/pipes - made of multiple strands joined together

to make a single wire.
- made of single strand made of
copper or aluminum wire.

- electrical materials used as the purpose of

wires
of protection and insulation.
D. Application

Alright class, after discussing the topic, we will

have an application of what you have learned.

I will tell the name of the electrical supplies and

materials then you will go to the front and find
or point out those in the Mock-up. Is it clear
class?

E. Generalization
What are the different types of electrical -Yes sir!
supplies and materials?

(Students will answer)

-Convenience Outlet
-Male plug
-lamp Holder
-Switch
-Junction box
-Flat Cord
-Fuse/circuit breaker
-connector
-Clamps
-Electrical wire/conductor
-conduits or pipes

IV. Evaluation

Let us have an exercise, get ¼ sheet of paper

and answer the following questions.

1. It is a device that acts as a convenient

source of electrical energy for current
consuming appliances.
2. A circuit protective device that
automatically blows and cut the current when
overload or short circuits happen.
3. Used to attach metallic or non-metallic
conduit to the junction box.
4. A device inserted to a convenience
outlet to conduct electric current.
5. Electrical materials used to hold and
anchor electrical conduits in its proper
position.

V. Assignment

Study about Electrical Fixtures and devices.
