Please find the pro-forma invoice for the 2023 Grade 12 IEB NSC Final Examinations on the last
page of this document.

Three very important points to note:

• These fees are subject to change depending on the number of subjects taken, the choice
of subjects taken (practical or non-practical, standard or non-standard) and the amounts
charged by the Grade 12 final examination venues sourced. The amount payable now
includes the estimated venue fee, however if an additional amount is payable after the
actual venues have been finalised, this will be communicated to the parents/guardians.

• Please check that the subjects on the proforma invoice are correct. Should there be any
changes please email [email protected] urgently.

• Other fees may apply, for example, for accommodations or re-writes that are required
next year.

Submission of School Based Assessment - Formal Assessments

A vital component of receiving a valid NSC certificate at the end of Grade 12 is successfully
completing and submitting ….

• ALL Assignments, Projects, Tests and Examinations for the SBA Component for each
subject
• ALL Orals for the Oral Component of the Languages
• A complete PAT (Practical Application Task) for the practical subjects
• The Life Orientation Final Examination written during Preliminary Examinations

All assessments submitted must be in the correct ....

• Format
• Time limit
• Course

If the Final Mark for any subjects’ SBA, Oral, PAT, or Life Orientation Examination is zero (0) /
missing, the student will not receive a result and will need to repeat the subject the following
year to complete the requirements for the NSC. Only then will the Matric certificate be
awarded. Teneo reserves the right to deregister students from any subjects where the
minimum requirements for the SBA, Oral, PAT, and Life Orientation Examination are not met.
Please note that registration fees and some venue fees are not refundable at deregistration.
The implication of deregistration of subjects is that the full subject will need to be repeated
the following year.

Please note to retain academic integrity no rewrites are provided or approved by Teneo for
any timed assessments (Tests, Examinations, Practical Examinations, and timed PAT
components). If a timed assessment is missed without an IEB approved valid reason, zero is
awarded to the assessment.

Preliminary vs Final Examinations

• Preliminary Examinations are written in August/September 2023. These examinations are
written on-line with Teneo. The compulsory Life Orientations Final Examination is written
during this period on-line.
The Preliminary Examination timetable will be released by end of July 2023.

• Final Examinations are written in October/November 2023 at the various accredited

examination venues (in person).

The Final Examination Timetable is issued to Teneo by IEB and will be shared with
parents/guardians and students as soon as it is finalised – historically towards the end of
September.

• Students that do not attend Practical / PAT examinations (Consumer Studies; Life Sciences
and Visual Arts) at their assigned venues will not be resulted and will need to redo the full
subject the following year. There are no valid reasons to miss these examinations, no
rewrites are offered for these assessments.

Deregistration / Cancellation Process and Refunds Applicable

It must be noted that should you decide to not write the examination once you have
submitted the application and payment, there are Examination Fees and Venues Fees that
may not be refundable.

Identification when writing the Final Examinations

South African Candidates must have a South African photo ID: only an ID card/book or
passport is acceptable (not a driver’s license).

Foreign Candidates must have a photo passport. No other forms of identification will be
allowed.

The correct ID or Passport needs to be presented at each examination to be admitted to the

examination venue to write the examination.

Foreign Students
Candidates residing abroad are required to write the Grade 12 Final Examination in South
Africa. Costs that candidates might incur due to travel and accommodation during the NSC
Final Examination sittings are for the parents’ own account.

Release of National Senior Certificates

After the Remarking and Supplementary Examinations are completed, and approved by
Umalusi the Final National Certificates will be issued by Umalusi and IEB. These certificates will
be couriered to the student by Teneo. This usually occurs between July and August of the
following year.

At the time of Couriering, communication will be sent out via e-mail to parents to confirm
their address before certificates are dispatched.
