I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson the students shall be able to;
 differentiate tools and equipment;
 determine tools, equipment, and their functions; and,
 appreciate the importance of knowing the different tools and
equipment.

II. LEARNING CONTENT


A. Topic: Diagnosing Tools
B. References: K-12 Learner’s Material (LM) Grade 9: Computer Hardware
Servicing pp. 177-179
C. Materials: Laptop, PowerPoint Presentation, Printed Material and Popsicle
Sticks
D. Skills: Critical Thinking and Creativity Skills

III. LEARNING EXPERIENCES/PROCEDURES:


A. Preliminaries:
1. Prayer
2. Greeting
3. Attendance
4. Review
 The teacher will ask the students about their previous lesson and
students must answer based on their understanding.

5. Motivation: “4 pics 1 word”


 The teacher will project 4 different pictures and the students will
guess the 1 word that is common in the 4 pictures.
B. ACTIVITY (Lesson Proper)
“Find Me!”
 The teacher will let the students find the word in the table.
 The teacher will provide the paper and then, collect the paper after
the given time.

C. ANALYSIS
 After doing the short activity above. The teacher will facilitate the
oral participation to ask the students randomly.

1. What is the difference between tools and equipment?


2. Do you know any tools that are used in diagnosing computers?
3. What do you think is the importance of knowing the tools and
their functions?

D. ABSTRACTION
Tools for Testing Computer System
Tools used to test hardware problems
1. Screw drivers – are used for installing and removing screws in the
computer unit.
2. Pliers and tweezers – are used for picking small parts in the
computer unit.
3. Soldering iron – is primarily used for connecting terminals in the
power supply and circuit board with use of a soldering lead.
4. Lens cleaner – a device used for cleaning optical media, such as
DVD- ROMS and CD-writers.
5. Anti-static wrist strap – provide a way for static electricity to
dissipate without causing electrostatic damage.
6. Anti-static mat – it prevents sparks and explosions.
7. Anti-static spray – it helps eliminate the static electricity on
clothing. 
8. Thermal paste – is a paste used for heat dissipation of the
processor.

Network Troubleshooting Tools


1. LAN tester – is a device used for testing the network connection.
2. Crimping tool – is a device used to crimp the RJ45 connector to the
UTP cable.

E. APPLICATION
“ESSAY”
 The teacher will let the students write an essay about the
importance of knowing the tools and equipment, and their uses.
 The teacher will collect the paper and check it.

IV. ASSESSMENT
Identification
Direction: Identify what is being described in each item.
