W 650 Strategic Management


Ever-changing business ecosystem continuously challenges business leaders to innovate, stay strong and grow. The frontier
of a company‘s growth and competitiveness is largely defined by its ability to create and sustain competitive advantage and
stay ahead of competitors. This course will highlight the skills needed to analyze business opportunities, and craft
innovative business strategy to embrace the complexity and uncertainty that surrounds today's business world. The broad
topics of this course include: defining strategy and its importance, charting a company‘s direction: vision and mission,
objectives, and strategy, evaluating a company‘s external environment, evaluating a company‘s resources, capabilities, and
competitiveness, the five generic competitive strategies, strengthening a company‘s competitive position, strategies for
competing in the international market, corporate strategies, ethics, corporate social responsibility, environmental
sustainability, and strategy, building an organization capable of good strategy execution, managing internal operations,
corporate culture and leadership, and cases in crafting and executing strategy.
